Tonight's game is as close to irrelevant as a game can be. The only person who picked a confidence value other than 14 is dbunting, who picked 12. Gonna go out on a limb and speculate that all of those picks are for New England. An upset (ha-ha) WOULD change the standings a bit in terms of which week is dropped for some teams.

What I meant by "random" is that there is so little chance that any of us can actually identify which games against the spread are fifteen or sixteen times more likely to go one way or another that the weekly and overall winners would be effectively random. If you CAN identify which games are extremely likely to go one way or another, the last thing you should do is reveal it here. You should be in Las Vegas surrounded by hookers and cocaine.

Confidence points AND spread gets pretty random. One or the other is fine by me.

I like the fact that I have seven more wins than anyone else. I just don't know what I don't know when it comes to placing confidence values.

Almost everyone will end up dropping weeks 9 or 11, when six teams are on bye.

Can you just give magic points to someone? If not, I think it's best we just do it informally. The site won't know who won the league necessarily, but we will. I don't like killing the game for everyone because of the drop rule.

Jaxom and I have a trade. I give up Bortles and Evan Engram for Butker and Phillip Lindsay. Only Engram has a contract beyond this year and in a 1TE league I really felt having Engram, Rudolph and Hunter Henry on long-term deals was a bit of a waste. I was really short roster spaces so much so I was likely to have to drop a player with a good contract to even get a kicker this week (or drop the Carolina Defense but I wanted to hold them pretty badly).

The drop weeks will most likely occur when there are a bunch of byes AND upsets. You don't get 11,12,13,14,15 or 16 point picks in weeks 9 or 11.

I was the only one in our league who DIDN'T, and that only because I always put 16 on the Patriots hoping I'll lose.

I put 16 on New England because it is worth not getting sixteen points in Pick 'Em to watch New England lose.

Okay, but that is a change from the history of the league. I don't mind too much except with $1 contracts. There needs to be a minimum penalty of $1 at the very least.

I see a difference in verbiage here and we should pick one and stick with it. I counted years remaining as "beyond this year". So a player who was not part of this draft can have at most two more years. I've edited mine to remove ambiguity.

Gotta admit my first thought was "When did Penny get traded to Nebraska?" The Huskers DO need some help. Edited to add: BTW.... ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!! Always tough to lose with the #2 score for the week. Even worse when a Pick 6 in pretty much garbage time late in MNF decides it. But is also fun to be watching an otherwise boring MNF game (at that point it had gotten boring) only to realize that if the Raiders score in their 2-minute drive, I win. But game score has an NFL team down 20 points you only get a half-arsed two minute drill.

Methinks that either you know about a trade the rest of the world does not or there is a goof up on the teams for whom these dudes play.

This seems a less than optimal solution with a better one available. I'd feel that way even if I were first. This is a bidding waiver league. Can't you just change the waiver period from 2 days to 1? I tried it as a test in Survivor but there isn't anyone there on waivers who hasn't already played. Even if not, there is a feature where you as Commish can edit the time a player currently on waivers. Change all the kickers and defenses with projected scores over zero to 9-SEP and then we can just do normal waivers overnight. Plus if anyone wants a specific player edited, you could do that via PM. Edited to add: Crap, doesn't work as I hoped. Never mind. It only works with dropped players.
