  1. But do you denounce Hamas?/s Honestly when a person does present Hamas as freedom fighters or downplay their actions it is prudent to pushback on their claims but no one here has done that and many have already given a clear articulation on why Hamas is terrible. Yet people still demand reaffirming that the terrorist org is bad as if saying how Israel is responding to the terror org is bad is saying Hamas is good.
  2. absolutely no one should care. Yeah I’m not going to support England if it subjugates Kenya as a colony again because at the moment England is less atrocious on gay and women’s rights Pink and Rainbow colored colonialism is still colonialism and not functionally different from the good ole civilize the savages with Christianity. Apologies, I beg your forgiveness, truly honestly But it feels like if the whites in Apartheid South Africa became a bit more feminist and pro-lgbt you’d readily side with them. Edit. Like I feel I should note the materialistically worse off In a society, in a community, tends to be the most regressive in their social dictates and this attitude of “they’re not liberal enough so subjugation and/expulsion of them is more okay” can excuse a lot of ugly shit domestically too.
  3. It was just to elucidate the truth that states can become allies even after bombing each other other. Can we not pretend the sole reason for hostilities between Palestinians and Israel is Hamas and that Israel’s current ambitions don’t include displacing more diplomatic and peaceful powers of Palestinian.
  4. Ah the occupation didn’t end until 1952 though and I was thinking more cordial, positive relationship, positive view of the populace towards America rather than the formal the dictates of some papers signed at gunpoint.
  5. Absolutely. America nuked Japan and after decades of cultural exchange and economic investment the two are allies. Israel can have the same relationship with Gaza. Though If not an ally in the more positive sense at least a vassal or subject.
  6. Eh, those two countries don’t have land Israel wants for can steal as much and the current Israeli society wants blood and supremacy. I expect we’ll see a more formalization of Aparteid in Gaza if there are any gazans left rather than Some benign progressive attempts at reforming things to relieve ethnic tension. I also expect Israel to trot out how because they don’t literally stone gay people or women and girls for archaic idea of indecency libs gotta shut up as israel do the apartheid unless they hate women and the gays.
  7. And now he’s going hastily going overboard in his response to prove he’s the fortitude of the strongman he’d like his people to accept.
  8. Smotrich literally identifies as a fascist homophobe and instead of getting run out of government or even cynically politically minimized he’s been granted governorship of civil life in the West Bank. https://apnews.com/article/palestinians-israel-occupation-west-bank-smotrich-netanyahu-e262d0bca6a637d217852ea238ab45b2 You don’t give such a man that type of position unless you want to encourage brutalization and terror on certain groups.
  9. Yeah. I’ll be honest in the past I’ve been more sympathetic to the force Israel used in Gaza against Hamas. Hamas is a terror org and they do employ civilians as shields in the midst of trying to kill Israelis/bomb Israel making some of the calls to bomb a place a bit more nuanced sometimes, not to say every hospital bombings can be lumped off as justified or unavoidable, or a necessary risk to reduce harm, But the response Hamas hasn’t been proportionate. It’s been near or about genocidal and past a certain amount of dead kids and babies being caused by the hospitals losing their power and water being deprived I honestly just grow annoyed with the blather on how Hamas did bad and is bad especially when no one in a conversation is saying it’s good and is just calling on Israel not to do war crimes. I mean for goodness sake can the president of Israel whose supposed to be a mascot of Israel not say shit like this? https://www.itv.com/news/2023-10-13/israeli-president-says-gazans-could-have-risen-up-to-fight-hamas yeah it’s silly to frame it as Israel has basic carblace to do anything and everything or nothing.
  10. What does that mean? Like most of the developed world, the world in general? Like gimme polls? All of it?
  11. Yes war is hard and difficult. let’s still not do war crimes that may kill tens or even under the worst outcomes hundreds of thousands of civilians and displace over a million people most of which are children.
  12. Let’s. Source? So the warning was theatre, a thing they think point to show they acted lawfully when they enacted a campaign of mass death. The method of execution doesn’t matter so much to the dead does it? You can respond without war crimes and mass death.
  13. Yeah or what could be referred to by many as woke nonesense. I do wonder what the western far right will offer as an ideological replacement for their imperialist exploits. Like perhaps there will be a resurgence in fundamentalist Christianity in Europe.
  14. Everything before the ‘but’ is nullified by the ‘but’ war crime bad generally especially when war crime means way more civilian death. Like we don’t need a lot more dead babies for jihadists to plaster for propaganda.
  15. I actually thought to make x the topic on an essay for a business course. I dropped it when I couldn’t decipher if basic information, policies concerning Twitter still applied generally.
  16. Don’t starve and plunge millions of civilians of people into darkness and only give a day to vacate their homes before their bombed. That would be the objective yes.
  17. Goddamnit I may have gotten fake newsed again. Did I?
  18. Sigh I thought we’d at least until the Far right to get back into power to see shit like this. In addition to the crackdown in Europe on pro-Palestinian protest(England, France etc), dark days ahead. im glad we’ve the first amendment in America some days.
  19. I truly think(Hamas bad), Israel’s response(Hamas bad), has been(Hamas bad), recklessly uncaring(Hamas bad), of human life. Did I mention Hamas bad? Apologies I understand I do genuinely condemn Hamas and recognize it as an abomination, I do irked when I see people try to frame them as freedom fighters, but on other hand there seems to be a constant need to redirect criticism of how Israel has reacted and their evil plans concerning Gaza to a reaffirmation of how Hamas is bad from a person after they’ve given it. For example:
  20. How many people do you think can realistically evaluate Gaza in 24 hours? Keep in mind near half of Gaza are children and we’re talking millions of people.
  21. Many on the left’s response(not saying it’s a majority) response to Hamas brutality has been disgusting. I do genuinely believe that if they’d been alive during the rise of the Nazis they’d buy the propaganda from the Nazis on how they’re not as much a colonial expansionist empire as the British(not to say the British empire didn’t commit genocide, authoritarianism, etc.
  22. That is the eventual outcome, that or ethnic cleansing or a south apartheid situation. True they’re also absolute monsters who’ve brutally cracked down on Palestinians, governed corruptly. They don’t want Israel to stop any sort of oppression because if Israel did it’d be a bit harder to justify all the horrorifc shit they want to do.
