  1. I thought it was a poor ending in all honesty, potentially to do with the lack of air time and opportunity to explain. It was certainly rushed, and it played out that way. The Bran story is a feeble one at best, mainly because we don’t currently have any context surrounding his election, other than a few I’s....and despite what many say, I feel Dany and Jon have both been played like a fiddle... the first time Dany decides to abandoned the advice of her self obsessed advisors, she gets shafted, not condoning what she did at KL, but we’re back to square one all the same, only difference is that potentially no one will betray Bran, because he will just see it coming, and the north is independent of course.... I also think there’s been a waste of characters, certain plots have been built up, and seemingly fizzle out to nothing, but again episode numbers dictated that. All in all it’s left me feeling empty, I’m not happy with Bran being on the throne, and it makes me think that Bran played this all along, he knew full well Jon wouldn’t want the throne, and he probably revealed his “true” identity in order to cause an inevitable relationship breakdown between he and Dany. It seems very much like a fuck it and find out ending, almost like they scripted it with their eyes closed grimacing as they did. I can only hope GRRM book adds more context to that, because if that is truly how his tale ends, then it’s gone from an epic to a wet fart.
  2. This is an excellent post. Sums things up perfectly in my opinion. In regards to the development of the story as a whole, perhaps it was always the intention for kings landing to fall under the wrath of Dany or Cersei either way it was doomed, neither the Lannister’s or the Targaryen’s are fit to rule, the Targaryen’s remind me of Germany, pre as post the Prussian empire... somehow despite many a set back they rise to the become feared and a super power seamlessly crushing their enemies with no real morals. The Targaryen’s don’t need to be smart, rational or strategic thinkers when they are armed with Dragons, the desire to do right is often mistakes for the lust for power, what started as a good intention has ended up being a play for power, she’s been playing with madness as if it’s a toy for a while. But when you’re a Targaryen, why would you fight for something you know deep down you’ll never have, when you can just watch it burn.
  3. Yea, that is a valid point. I feel Dany’s character has been backed into a corner, and forced to do this, she came to assist Jon with his war, lost next to everything and he gets the plaudits for it all. It is no surprise she’s gone mad and destroyed everything, she has been made to feel alone for most of her battles and now she pretty much is bar the remaining soldiers she has. Her decline is inevitable, as is her demise, which is a shame because I liked the idea of her ruling.
  4. Is it any different to Aegon the Conqueror’s victory?
  5. I think there’s a false sense of security developing for Cersei. The Scorpions are all well and good, but useless in close range and 90 degree angles. If the show manages to address the painfully obvious battle tactic of Drogon attacking from above, the scorpions are rendered useless. Not to mention Sansa’s genius albeit unaware genius, to tell people of Jon’s true identity, it’s almost certainly set up the golden companies breaking of their contract. Cersei’s over reliance on their house motto will be her undoing.
