  1. Interesting point. Same goes for France.. Even since the salic law was passed, it prevented any woman or even a male from a female bloodline to take the throne (or any kind of property), unless there were no other options. As such, no Queen has ever ruled in her own name. But then, thank god we had a Revolution to kick them out (too bad the medias have forgotten about that and keep talking about the Royals in UK ^^)
  2. Hum.. no. The fans supported Starks and Dany, GOT never gave any good reasons to support the Greyjoys, Baratheons or the Lannisters (especially in the first season, and this is HOTD's first season. The show cannot be judged and compared to GOT yet, it's too soon). Yes Tyrion and Jaime were made likeable and even Tywin was admired for his ruthlessness (Kudos to Charles Dance), but no one was actually rooting for them to keep the Iron Throne.
  3. Totally. I would argue that the way they acted at Visery's death is proof that they knew they were in the wrong and needed to act as quick as possible to crown Aegon before Rhaenyra.
  4. Oh I completely agree, that's why I'm speaking about the cause being more just and not the people fighting for it. This is also why I don't really understand the complains about how Daemon is being portrayed in the show. He and Aemond are both scumbags.
  5. Both sides do terrible things, but It was Aemond who draw first blood and it was the Greens who let Viserys rot for days without saying anything to anyone. The Black's cause is more just than the Green's one. That's it. Doesn't mean they're heroes, though.
  6. I liked the episode a lot. I have 2 small complains about it though. I disagree with people saying that having Daemon murder his wife is out of character, it's totally in character, but it was poorly executed, very weird. Would have been better if he had her murdered by someone else. Furthermore, I didn't mind Joffrey going to Criston and try to make an ally out of him regarding each other's secret. But he figured out that Cole was Rhaenyra's lover way too quickly and too easily. Also, Viserys looks too sick to hang around for another 15 years. Apart from that, great episode. I really like Cole and Rh's conversation on the boat, Corlys/Rhaenys as well. Not surprised Corlys tried to minimize Laenor being gay as something that will out grow him. After all, the Greeks considered that loving boys/men was something natural when you were a teen. It's only after you had grown enough to be considered a man that you had to find yourself a wife and do your duty as a citizen. And have an "activ" role and virility.
  7. It's a Targ civil war, they're all Targaryens zealots ! The problem is with the gender in relation to power, not the family.
  8. I'm glad the show makes Alicent more sympathetic too, but let's be honest, every character coming from nobility is entitled and an elitist. What separates Targaryens from other nobles is the fact that they can control dragons, and to be fair, in a "Darwinism view" of this world, that's more than enough to justify their dominion over the others. Thinking about the Black Velaryons and their insertion into the Targaryen family tree, it could work if Alyssa and Valaena were albinos, maybe ? Jaehearys and Alysanne would remain white, but Rhaena and her brother could be more mixed. That way it doesn't have any incidence over the family tree. I found it more plausible than having Daemon and Viserys as biracial.. And as long as they keep Viserys II and Larra Rogare white, it keeps its logic within the show canon.
  9. The marriage between Alicent and Viserys doesn't qualify as a child marriage at all. Alicent is young compared to Viserys but she's clearly older than Laena. A teen, but definitly not a child in my view. But maybe that's because I'm French and it seems to me that Americans always refer to people under 21 as children, which sounds grotesque to me.
  10. I agree ! I was so ready to hate Criston Cole, way more than Alicent, whom I don't really consider a villain.. But this guy is like a modern incel. since I don't want Rhaenyra to be whitewashed either, I really hope they don't make her the bad guy in this break-up..
  11. I see, though I'd say Rhaenyra's character is more "Dawson casting" since Milly Alcock is 22 ^to play a 15 years old ^^
  12. They're probably keeping it for another episode ^^ The preview for the 3rd episode suggests that it will soon happen
  13. Emiley Carey was 18 when they shoot the scenes and since Viserys said Rhaenyra was 15 and Alicent is supposed to be a little older, she might 17/18 in the show as well.
  14. To be fair, all the conversations you quote happened towards the end of the season. It's only the second episode, let's wait and give it a little more time. I think we'll have way more underlining subtext and tension once the kids of Rhaenyra and Alicent will be shown on screen.
  15. I think it's supposed to represent the targaryan bloodlines that flows from Old Valyria, since the show is about succession, its makes sense but I think it could have been made a little better.
  16. Viserys said Rhaenyra was 15 in this episode
  17. Something else I noticed, so far, the music is basically GOt music, but during the episode I noticed a new theme that I really enjoy, we can hear it when Rhaenyra leaves from Dragonstone and when she walks to her father shortly after. I wonder if that'll be Rhaenyra's theme from now on..
  18. I liked the episode, not as much as the first one though. 8/10 I was a bit bothered by the absence of an original theme, until I started singing with the GOT Theme. Since GRRM wants to make a real franchise, it seems logical to take that, but I would have like an original one, perhaps with darker notes. I like the idea of the bloodline running through stones but they should have spent a little more time on each "sigil/symbol" we see. So far I only noticed the first one (the Doom and Aegon I's crown), then I think Jaehearys and Alysanne with so many lines splurting representing the many children they had. And finally the last one which represents Rhaenyra though the necklace Daemon gave her. I am not that bothered by Mysaria's accents, but maybe that's because english isn't my mothertongue.. I don't really get accents, except the scottish ones. On the other hand, I though Mysaria would be more Tyanna like, she seems quit dependent to Daemon, and not really having a will of her own. I don't know, but knowing her role in F&B, the character doesn't sound right to me. Loved the scene on Dragonstones, which looks much better than in GOT, love my boy Caraxes I like how Alicent is being portrayed as an anxious and resilient woman who does what she needs to do for her family. Still love Considine's acting for Viserys, you get that he's not an idiot king, but his incapability to make a stand really works against him. I also like how Rhaenyra comes to understand that even though she's been names Heir, the men in the small council intend to rule though her. The thing that bugged me at the end though is the behaviour of Corlys and Rhaenyra.. They can't act surprise and storm out, they know the king is looking to remarry and Alicent is present at a small council meeting.. It was so obvious. Everyone would have guessed who the king had choose.. Can't wait for the next episode, the trailer looks promising
  19. 9/10 Loved it, it felt good to be back in Westeros, my only little complain is the fight between knights in the tourney, too bloody. And the introduction of the Citywatch, a little fast and somehow weird. Apart from that great episode !
