A 9, which may represent a 9.5... not sure. See, the writing? Lovely. The characters? In some cases, they just seemed more real to me, more like what GRRM intended, as if he just sort of shaded things a little differently -- not in a way that was inconsistent with the show, mind you, but just ... by omission, maybe, doing things so they came a little nearer the book. But, while I absolutely adored Daniel Minahan's work in the last two episodes, there was some clumsiness in this one that detracted from it, just weird little cuts that I didn't understand. Worst of all was the Arya scene with the Stableboy, which just felt ... well, amateurish. I know, I know, there was very little time, they had to go on to the next thing, but I would sooner have trimmed 10 seconds from the Lannisters slaughtering the Starks to just give that moment more weight. So, a 9-9.5, after a bit taken off for the direction.
