1. If Ramsay can get Theon to kill Roose - say, in an attempted escape - that's as sneaky as he needs to be. Bronn, good points all. :)
  2.
I was assuming that she would die after she's produced an heir for Ramsay, but that would still count as early, no?
Oh - I thought you meant early as in a few months after marriage. No, not that early. If Ramsay were thinking straight, he would wait for a couple of children to pop out (the "heir and spare" approach favoured by the House of Windsor), but that is unlikely. However, given "Arya's" official age of eleven, wouldn't a few people be wondering if she got pregnant right away? None of them with any real influence, mind you.
  3.
Look at how Ramsay treated Lady Hornwood. Chances are, 'Arya' will be kept out of view and will die early no matter what.
Doesn't she need to produce an heir first to solidify the Bolton claim to Winterfell?
  4.
Theon is well-known and infamous in the north for being a betrayer and a turncloak whose oaths count for nothing. I wouldn't use John Walker Lindh as a reference at a job interview, and I wouldn't use Theon to give my realm legitimacy. I'm genuinely surprised that people can't see the problem here.
Theon's problem - well, one of them - is going to be persuading people that this girl is not Arya Stark. However, he would be the perfect person to off Roose, thus sparing Ramsay's family feelings. Ahahaha. ;)
  5. So it was probably just the first part of the chapter, then. Fair enough. :)
  6.
Is there some pressing reason why Craster and his baby factory have to die now? If there isn't, it's probably still more convenient for them to have him producing and giving over sons. And sheep, I suppose, without a fight. Why do they need them? Who knows. Craster's wife Ferny seemed to believe the sons became Others, though that could well be wrong.
Maybe you can create only wights from dead people, but it takes live ones to create Others? And not surprisingly, most adults aren't willing to go along for that particular ride?
  7. As the Things would say, in their present Stuart Little phase: "Holy mackerel, said Snowbell!" Great chapter, and thanks for the synopsis! :D Thoughts: this will make Tyrion very happy, if ever he hears of it. Also, we know that the penalty for desertion from the Watch is beheading (according to his Nedliness, anyway); do we know that it's any different for mutiny/insurrection? And I have utterly forgotten what Aemon's letter is about, the one that Jon signs here.

I preferred Tigana to Arbonne, myself.
  9.
QUOTE(AGOT, Tyrion 7) Tywin son of Tytos of House Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock, Warden of the West, Shield of Lannisport, and once and future Hand of the King There is a book called the Once and Future King .
And that once and future king, Arthur, was also killed by his own son, IIRC. :)
  10. In the Roll of Arms in the Hedge Knight comic, I noticed that Ser Alyn Garner's shield shows (quoted from the Citadel, thanks Ran and Linda) "Three grey owls upon white plates on green", which is a tip of the hat to Alan Garner's "The Owl Service", a great book. Garner himself is worthy of further discussion elsewhere. Who are the other lesser-known shields based on? Mike S. Miller and the gang are easy to pick out, but the rest I'm not sure of. I do like Ser Clarence Cargyll's goose, though.
