[TWoW Spoilers] Aeron I (Balticon)
chrisdaw replied to Free Northman Reborn's topic in The Winds of Winter
Pale flames = glamours (that was what Mel was doing, glamouring as Ygritte on the spot where she died) and obsidian candles. The mate is a sorceress capable of glamouring and using obsidian candles. -

Storm's End for the first and last storm, the defier of gods. The place of his ascendency. -

Theon won't fight Euron or anything, but he is going to be there to pick up the pieces when Euron is gone and finished screwing his men. He'll rule, though this chapter made me think there's a possibility of a salt king (Theon) and rock queen (Asha) ruling together in the future. -

Dany will marry Euron, he'll appear Daario with a name and she'll have turned all fire and blood. -

There's a relationship here, something brewing in the imagery, wording and naming that creates an association between Euron, Tyrion, the Ninepenny kings, the white flame woman and (white) worms. I think Euron is going to create an alliance like the Ninepenny kings, and they're the dwarves capering for his and his mate's amusement. Quoting from the wiki because I'm lazy, but any money this character is foreshadowing for the pale fire woman. Daemon would be Euron in this instance. Rhaenyra Dany. Note Daemon gave her a dragon egg, but they had to give it back. And that she lost Daemon's child during a storm. Storm can either refer to Euron, the first and last storm, or Dany the Stormborn. -

When it comes to considering the bathing in blood thing with Shiera, I think it's worth noting that sorcerers maintaining their beauty and prolonging their life in ASOIAF is an established fact. On bathing in blood, well we know it's not just a rumour that warlocks do this, its also a factual thing, they did it to a POV character. That bathing in blood can achieve anything relating to youthfulness or beauty or anything at all is obviously another matter. -

Not a mass sacrifice, two sacrifices, himself and his child. That's why he needs Dany, he needs a 'heir worth of him', the him is Drogon and he needs blood the blood of the dragon. The blood betrayal. To fly he has to jump from the tower, die, and that's what will happen when he blows the horn. But, he'll get something back, he trades his blood, he gets back fire. He becomes the dragon, supplanting Drogo inside of Drogon, the second head of the dragon, the mount to dread. And, because Euron will have Greyscale, Drogon will become the stone dragon, and because Euron is kraken descending from another race, drogon will develop kraken or sea dragon features. He'll be a miss-match, like a sphinx. Then comes the third act, Dany trying to wake her dragon from stone, requiring pure dragon blood in her nissa nissa to bring Drogon back to her. And the tower from which Euron blows the horn and takes flight as the Stone Beast will be Storm's End, during one of those epic once every 77 year but not really storms, as Euron is the first and the last storm. Capering and laughing brings to mind mischief and trickery, and with forests burning runs well into this Grey King feat. Storm God being Dany the Stormborn. -

To boil him down to a plot device, I think his role is to decimate Westeros before the Long Night, put the realm in such a state that victory seems impossible. But even then, so long as Dany lives and has Drogon victory over the Others seems pretty much assured. I mean that's how this ends right? He's made the baddies ice zombie and given the goodies fire breathing dragons. It's not by any accident, his design must be that readers are imagining, expecting, that the heroes will ride the dragons against the Others to glorious victory. He even gives us a taste of it in some of Dany's dreams. And that's what I think Euron is really for, to destroy this expectation. Euron is going to ruin Drogon, he's going to make Drogon unusable to Dany as a weapon against the Others. -

Innocent until the author writes something like or Not a rumour or filtered through a fallible POV, but directly from the author. But yeah, men were killing themselves after falling out of her 'favour' and fighting duels for the right to sit beside her without any encouragement, and all to her great horror. And on Shiera the Star of the Sea = Quaithe the spawn of shadow = White flame handed shadow woman beside Euron, in addition to my other two posts in this thread about it, note that when he's not serving from his stone (stone beast?) flask Euron is serving on silver, as was Shiera's preference in jewellery. And this tidbit. -

Or maybe he cuts Falia but just doesn't get around to Damphair, doesn't need him or the battle gets too hectic. -

Moqorro says he sails on a sea of blood. If he slits the throats of those tied to the prow, while they're tied there, then he'd literally be sailing on their blood as it gushes into the ocean in front of his ship. But that wouldn't make for much of a chapter if we're going to get to see the battle. -

Successful yeah, in an extremely bloody and costly way to Westeros. But he's going to betray her eventually. The Bloodstone Emperor who is so obviously a parallel for Euron betrayed the Amethyst Empress (Euron refers to Dany by her amethyst eyes), it was called the Blood Betrayal, treason for blood. -

In all seriousness, while I wouldn't say he's possessed or even dancing on the puppet strings of the shadow woman, I do think he is at least following guidance from someone out there. I doubt he just happened on the suit of armour by chance, or the warlock ship, or that he's pulling shit like (even if it is in his dream form) 'the comet heralds the end, that the world needs to be destroyed and made anew' from his own mind. I think someone is 'with' him, pushing an agenda. And he needs Dany, apparently. Meanwhile Dany has been toing and froing between her bunny ears or fire and blood. Bunny ears Dany could not take Euron, as bunny ears Dany had to reject Daario. Fire and blood Dany though, she's more like to take to Euron, as if she'd not cared about her bunny eared peace she could have taken Daario. Convenient then, that every so often comes a magical visitor to remind Dany she's a dragon and that her ways are fire and blood. -

It's worth noting that he offers Victarion Shade of the Evening, but Vic refuses. He then gives him the Dusky Woman. To speculate I think the two are connected. I think it's plausible that had Vic drank the Shade, Euron would not have needed to give him the Dusky Woman. That whatever purpose Euron had in offering Vic the Shade he is making do with the Dusky Woman as a back up. I think it allows Euron to see a drinker's thoughts, get in their mind. Perhaps he does something to it to bind them to him, like drop some of his blood in it. -

I take a different view, to me Euron is not just a simple villain. He is just a boy who dreamt of flying. But unlike everyone else, when they told him it was impossible, that he was mad, evil even, he refused to listen, refused to give up on his dream. Instead Euron set forth against immeasurable odds with courage, determination and an unflinching belief in himself. He journeyed to the edge of the world and back again to find the means of defying the cruel gods who thrust gravity upon him. And now, he is only one amethyst eyed bimbo's stupid decision away from achieving his dream. His story is one of belief, sacrifice, defying nonsensical superstitions, finding forgiveness from one's own kind, blood sacrifice, uniting people, more sacrifice, and most of all a lesson to always follow your dreams. -

I thought the worms in his dreams were references to him dying on land, what I would have thought is hit greatest fear but then I'd thought if that were the case he'd make mention of it. But it seems like the worms are Euron infecting his dreams. I think we have to get another chapter, else how do we get to see the battle? Would GRRM not show the battle after this build up? And if the battle is all from Aeron's POV tied to the prow, that would be a pretty limited chapter. -

He doesn't intend to be king without Dany so far as he has said. It's her and her dragons, then the kingship. We always thought Dany would have the Ironborn on her side during the dance, there's nothing in this chapter to suggest change. -

What are the Others going to be able to do about dragons raining down fire from above? No amount of animated corpses or ice spiders matters against that. Short of them having their own ice dragons (plausible) Westeros always holds the upper hand in my mind. The dragons need to die (or turn to stone) for the Others to become a challenge, for things to really get dire. Which I think is what Euron is for. -

That the woman with white fire hands is his queen or bride is an assumption. It may be the case, but it may not be, like Mel's vision of Bloodraven and Bran, it could be a case of master and pupil. He is, and it's greyscale. That's why its a stone beast and why his lips are grey. Lips get the specific mention because his lips are what will blow the horn, his great leap from the tower to fly. And the beast is Drogon. Blood for fire, fire for blood. Euron's blood will be corrupted by greyscale, and when he blows the horn so too will become Drogon's. The treason for blood, Drogon becomes stone, the mount to dread, and the second head of the dragon. Then Dany needs to find the third head, to slay the lie, to bring forth lightbringer, to wake the dragon from stone to save the world from the Others. -

I think in this might be the blueprint for Euron's victory, how he takes Westeros. Set a spark and let the dwarf rat men and women fight it out, plague and winter do it's thing, all the while laughing at their folly with the white fire handed woman, then when nearly everything is destroyed come in and just pinch the nose shut. He doesn't care the land he's taken, doesn't care for the men he's given it to or that he leads, they're all just a means to an end, disposable. And you know those Ironborn of his are going to end up getting royally fucked sooner or later, his gifts are always poison, he basically says so himself in this chapter, he won it and that will last forever, but if it's lost he won't be there for it, it'll be they who lose it. Regarding Euron cutting out everyone's tongue, I assume it's just because he's mind raping them, skin changing them, and doesn't want the secret to get out. While there may be some measure of passive mind control while he's not specifically in there, I think it's primarily all about information, like the Dusky woman, he wants everything they know, to tap their memories. It might also be a two-way street, in that jumping in them gives them an insight into his mind, stuff he doesn't want getting out into the wild so he cuts their tongue so they can't reveal his secrets. -

He's not tying all the priests to the prows for show. There's something magical in what he's doing, something in their blood. On his own ship he's making a sacrifice of his own blood, his brother and an unborn child of his. Perhaps they somehow help to call kraken's to the surface. Or somehow they ward his own ships from the krakens attacking them as well as the enemy when they do come. -

I think the Bloodstone Emperor foreshadows Euron outlasting Vic to be the last remaining child of Quellon's. The Bloodstone Emperor was the ninth and last emperor of the Great Empire of the Dawn. Nine sons, down to two if that was the last of Aeron. If Euron outlives Vic he becomes the ninth and last.
