  1. Apologies. that wasn't my intent. I do think people are better off when they know what is going on, that may affect them.
  2. In case anyone thought the problem was only the extreme right. Of course, it may be the the Republican Party is now part of the extreme right. http://www.newsweek.com/republicans-voted-define-being-transgender-disqualifying-psychological-and-798726
  3. I cringe at the analogy, but I can't argue with it. When those not directly threatened start backing away, the threat must be perceived as real.
  4. I think it is simpler than that. When people see that those in power are attacking a group, they worry what will happen if those in power see them as supporting that group. It's a reaction based on fear of what may happen to themselves.
  5. The problem I see is in the section entitled "A Shift From Allies to Detached Supporters." I'd really like to see an ind depth analysis of why that drift is occurring. Whether its a case of people protecting themselves in an increasingly problematic political climate, or the specifics of what is making people uneasy. And yes, there is always a pendulum effect to progress in the social arena, but with the mobilization of reactionary forces, this is starting to look like one step forward and two steps back.
  6. Why am I always the one to point out how the current reality is worse than the old one? But, I'll be honest. These statistics aren't as bad as I thought they would be. https://www.glaad.org/files/aa/Accelerating Acceptance 2018.pdf But category 2 is worrisome.
  7. 10. Theon growing a pair. Sansa's getting smart. The sand snakes doing what they do best. Brienne having the best damned GPS in Westeros. Pod showing potential. Frankenmountain.
  8. 9.675/10. The Melisandre segment was the weakest, for me.
  9. 10. If Peter Dinklage doesn't get an Emmy for that performance, I'll be disappointed. Davos' speech ant the Iron Bank, was excellent. The Yara sequence was a bit disappointing, though the portrayal of Reek was excellent.
  10. I know the producers of GoT have said they are not paying attention to what is said on the internet, but if they trow in one more gratuitous rape or almost-rape scene, I'll stop watching the show and won't buy the blu ray when released. It is bad enough that GRRM thought rape was entertaining, but the show is adding such scenes, wiily-nilly.
  11. 9/10. Some slow spots, but so emotionally satisfying, by the end.
  12. So glad my vote of 1/10 got removed to normalize things. :P There were some good scenes, but everything from the wall, north was so horrendous, I just wanted to turn the TV off.
  13. I cannot believe anyone liked this episode. I've always known they could not follow the books exactly, but what they did tonight was an outrage. Now that they've introduced Darth Maul, Will the Witch King of Angmar show up next week.
  14. It has nothing to do with book vs. show. It has to do with killing off any interest I might have had in what happens to Jaime, in the show. If they kill him off in the next episode, I'd be delighted. I'd enjoy that almost as much as the purple wedding.
  15. 7/10. It would have been 9/10 had the director not turned Jaime into a rapist. Why is it such a big deal? Because the character has been irrevocably been damaged. Rapists are only accepted by those who don't think rape is such a bad thing.
  16. 8. It was good for setting up the rest of the season.
  17. See who I am, Break through the surface. Reach for my hand, Let's show them that we can Free our minds and find a way. The world is in our hands, This is not the end.

  18. A line from a poem of my childhood has said That visions of sugarplums were gonna dance in my head

  19. Imagine a world where kids aren't bullied because of what they are or who they love. Support Spirit Day 10/17/2013

  20. Little sisters of the sun Lit candles in the rain Fed the world on oats and raisins Candles in the rain Lit the fire to the soul who never knew it's friend Meher Baba lives again Candles in the rain To be there was to remember So lay it down again Oh, lay it down Lay it down, lay it down again Men can live as brothers Candles in the rain

  21. And so you see I have come to doubt All that I once held as true I stand alone without beliefs The only truth I know is you

  22. In case no one realizes it, my avatar is someone's artistic rendering of Brienne of Tarth

  23. And you would be wrong. In any event, I enjoyed this episode and gave it a 10. As for those who disliked this episode, I can only say that I don't know you and with any luck, never will.
