  1. In some ways probably the most underwhelming opener yet, but I guess I am now primed for significant deviations from the source.
  2. 8/10 - can't expect much more than that for a season-opener.
  3. I thought it made sense for Balon to still be alive. If they have a 'previously on GoT' opening for S04E01, I could imagine it would end with Stannis throwing the leeches in the fire and saying the names. And perhaps the first scene could be him falling off the bridge or whatever - to remind the unsullied that Melisandre's propechy/witchcraft is still a factor. And then of course, the PW could be in E02 (certainly no later than E03 and no earlier than the final scene of E01).
  4. It was just as I expected it to be. And rates a solid 9/10.
  5. A 10 for me. Watched it on broadcast night and was so tired I crashed straight after. Tonight I watched it again and my stomach is still feeling stressed out,
  6. The concordance is very useful though - looking through 'flora and fauna' of Westeros today - I was surprised to see the poppy was not listed (though milk of the poppy is mentioned in 'medicines').
  7. Solid 8/10. Kind of thought Joff stealing the step-ladder was a bit cheesy and let out on 'aaaargh' as the Sam scene ended, with nobody bothering to pick up the silver bullet...I mean obsidian dagger..
  8. Only 7/10. A few nice scenes, the usual good acting and cinematography, but for the 2nd week in a row, not much happened. Oh well, the last few should be blinders..
  9. I had trouble getting in here for quite a while, so interesting to read the complaints in the first few pages. As an adaptation, I am very happy with the show and realise they can't show every detail from the book and - due to the medium - have to change some things. This will happen in future seasons as D&D have to stretch some stories - eg Theon - over the next few series (as with Robb and Jamie this season). The fate of WInterfell is bound to be explored early in S3 and give the TV audience an understanding of the shift in power up North. Plenty of other characters (Shirene, the Reeds, the Bastard) being held over. As a book reader, I probably enjoyed the series more than some of my non-reading friends who thought some episodes were a bit slow. I'm glad that S3/4 is likely to spark them up again. My only criticism is that the 'three horns' cliffhanger could have been even more effective with a 'less is more' approach. A few things during the series I didn't like but I'll wait to see how these storylines play out next year before making my mind up. 9/10 for this necessary epilogue to S2.
  10. Nope - the one on Bronn's lap is not the same character.
  11. Maybe just get the e-books as otherwise you may be charged for excess baggage! lol
  12. Actually, that's not all... :) After 'Rains of Castamere' and Sansa's hymn, I now have hopes for the 'Maiden and the Bear' in future episodes. Though I might really cry if I hear someone else singing 'Rains' over the credits of a future episode.... I just got to watch this again later.
  13. Seven Hells!! Wrong Thread. Oops! I gave it 8 and looking forward to GRRM's script.
  14. I really think they will simplify the Reek/Ramsay storyline. Probably just have Bolton sneakily take Winterfell and then do nasty things to Theon and turn him into Reek (without there having been an original Reek or a Reek/Ramsay).
  15. A 7 for this one which - for me - is the lowest mark of any this series. Think it would probably be the lowest ever actually. Not too much wrong with this episode but just seemed to be something missing for me, Anyway if the worst an episode of a show can rate is 7/10, they can't be doing too much wrong.
