It looks like season 2 ends about where book 2 ends. I did the same as you after season 1. Its a different dynamic watching subsequent seasons having read the books. I think its worth it, but I will never know.

No one on the show or in real life knows what is in another's mind. All we can go on is their acts. What conceivable advantage can it be for Tyrion to show Sansa kindness when she is already trapped at KL? Much easier for him to go along with Joff's sadism. If Sansa has no reasoning ability, just say so, and leave it at that.

If she hasn't learned to distinguish between someone hurting her and someone helping her what exactually is she learning or is she incapable?

Good point! I just wonder if they could have done so with different editing. E.g. a closeup of the rider on the white horse focussing on the antlered crown. A reaction shot of a Stannis soldier shouting "i tawt I saw a ghost" or some such TV magic.

Cersei was the worst. She directly betrayed her husband and liege lord and put the bastard on the throne. Jaime only betrayed his liege lord. Tyrion did neither.

Stannis' "honor" would compel him to burn the Lannisters who betrayed his (older) brother. Just look at what he did to his own (younger) brother who "betrayed" him.

Sorry but I don't think this part lived up to the rest. As a book reader I was looking for the Renly ghost and even for me the scene was too quick, poorly shot, or obscure for that kind of recognition. For a non-book reader it must have been completely opaque. Also, the separation between the Tyrion's charge, Stannis' charge, and Renly's charge, especially the last two, would have also given no clarity to a non-book reader. In other words if you were not expecting that to happen, there is no way to know that it had happened. The Stannis forces in the charge after Tyrion faded away instantly. The editing there could have been vastly improved.

That line jarred me a bit. We know she prays for Joff to NOT return. So that implies she feels the same for Tyrion. Yet she and we know that Tyrion has saved her and taken her side when no one else did. It was clever writing but not entirely appropriate.

So, somewhere after 2015 when they catch up to where the books are now, HBO will still be supporting the effort? I wouldn't use the words "absolutely no chance." I would miss it but there's a lot that could be cut for the series to arrive at the current state considerably faster than 3 years from now.. We just have to wait and see.

Yes, I suppose when the RW occurs next season, might as well add them to the mix. How soon in season 3?

I just wonder if the Hound will have his transformation complete with Arya. They may skip that and have her Jarquen moment (in the preview) lead directly to Bravos/

Maybe the fact that the episode stayed exclusively at KL has something to do with?

Was there an antler crown. Without that how was anyone to know it was supposed to be Renley?

[Book Spoilers] EP 208 Discussion Mk. II
Harrad replied to Xray the Enforcer's topic in E08: The Prince of Winterfell
Another reason that the HBO series can't be 3 seasons only is that it would end in media res. That idea is almost as crackpot as Catelyn releasing Jaime. -

Really? I thought he had a march from Winterfell to north of the Wall to undertake. -

If you negotiated like Catelyn, you would concede my points now, and hope that I later conceded yours. -

Yes there was definite recognition. Didn't Quaithe advise Dany in the book? Why would she have to be someone else. Perhaps a combo character? -

I saw season 1 before reading the books. Yoren left the Wall with Tyrion. Soon thereafter Bron helps Tyrion in the inn where Catelyn took him. So I got them confused temporarily. BFD.If you can keep all the names straight even when they sound the same, and all the actors straight even when they look the same, you should be very proud. And indeed you are. Now, just be kind to the little people without your keen, discerning intellect. -

It was a good move. (Osha/Usha was in episode 8 at the end underneath Winterfell--not chatting with Theon then, but nearby.) I even cornfused Yoren and Bron at first..both thin dark sarcastic sell sword or ranger. I got them straight well before Yoren bought it on the way back to the Wall. -

Didnt she kill a fat boy in KL (at least in the book)? -

Harrad replied to Xray the Enforcer's topic in E08: The Prince of Winterfell
Don't see the hate for Tonks/Usha. She's beautiful, smart, and loyal to the Starks who treated her well, considering she was about to off Bran. Letting Jaime go was a brainfart in the book and in the series. So I lay that at GRRM's door. It certainly mixes up the story but there is absolutely no reason for a hardened WarLady to go all self-destructive in that way. Consider these facts: 1. Jaime is the one who tried to kill Bran, and Eddard..he is their worst one-on-one combat foe, and the war is hardly over 2. He is likely to support the bad Lannister faction in Kings Landing if he got there 3. Catelyn doesnt even know if either daughter is in Kings Landing (Arya is not) or even alive. 4. Catelyn's act undermined her firstborn son bigtime If I were her, I would plead insanity. -

Ok...that's a nice goal. However, its kind of like a congressman saying he'd like to serve nine terms. Or like the producers of The Golden Compass saying they'd like to do a trilogy. Things happen.
