  1. I agree with most of that, though they did more than one panning shot and on a couple of them people were not doing a whole a lot and that bothers the hell out of me. I think leading up to the battle things were going pretty good, I liked some of the quiet tension at castle Black. But did not care for the Gilly scenes and although I have enjoyed Aemon in the series what little of him there has been, I thought that scene was unnecessary. Thought Thorne was good too. But as pointed out by others the Well has been the second class citizen of the series, and they have not developed a lot there with the characters, and have wasted time on things like Crasters. Then they go out and promote it as the most epic battle on tv ever? Seriously just shooting themselves in the foot. As it goes the show goes like this, Tyrion and KL number 1, Dany number 2, Arya number 3, the Wall 4th, Stannis 5th. and when Robb and Cat were alive they were number 2 in the order of importance. At no point have they ever put a lot of stock in the wall so as a viewer why should anyone invest. Season one episode 9. Baelor the Death of Ned Stark, for fans who had not read the books this was the OMG moment of omg moments. Season 2, Episode 9. Blackwater, that's all you really need to say. The opening shot blows up a fleet of ships with a giant green fireball. Dink was amazing. Season 3, Episode 9, The Rains of Castamere, it's the red wedding the entire country was talking about this, well at least inn the states. Season 4, Episode 9, The Watcher's on the wall. I now see why the title is so appropriate to this episode. The death of Pyp and Grenn, yes thee Pyp and Grenn. And Grenn got the honor of getting done off screen. Seriously I am not a die hard Stan fan, but it really could of used the arrival. Honestly I think casual fan probably saw Jon go out the gate and was like I hope he dies so we don't have to waste any time up following this arc anymore because it's so damn boring most of the time. Do you think anyone will speak about this episode the way they did about the other 3? And that was not in any way shape or form the greatest anything on tv ever. That skirmish and that's what I call it because that is what it was lacked emotion, energy, action, drama, and investment. And the barrel poking scene? Of all the pathetic things in the world to do. Or the giants at the gate, how the hell do you drop 150 gallons of oil on top of them and they don't get burned at all, The Mammoth got burned and it was 30 ft away, all the men got burned, but the giants? What was this the second miracle, were they hatching dragons eggs? You know it's fine that Jon says Mance is just testing the watches defenses, that's fine. It was a horrible plan to test a defense but whatever. But they hyped this up as like it was going to be a major battle, sorry but I feel lied too, and even a character on the show basically referred to it as probing. Not to mention the cliffhanger, really what was that? It's not like he got stabbed or anything, he is walking out a door by himself and it's going to last all of a week. Not like anyone is going oh my god they killed off Jon, he's in next weeks episode preview. Honestly it felt pointless, and to waste 20-25 minutes trying to rush job some character development in the hopes of generating a connection with the general viewing public is a mistake, and something they shoulld have been doing for the last 3.8 seasons. Sorry but I don't need extra Shea scenes or Theon getting fixed and tortured over and over, I don't need to see Ros developed for no reason at all, while actual characters at the wall get shit for the better part of 4 years. They develop pointless crap with non characters that most people don't give to shits about for years and ignore the Wall, really? The god damn wall, Jon Snow and the Watch. I know the first book is called A game of thrones but the actual series is not all about Kings Landing and Tyrion, the series is called A song of Ice and Fire, they got no problem giving us the fire and that's great, but Jesus can I have a little ice in my god damn Kool aid so I can get my inner Jon Snow and the Watch fan boy on?
  2. Well you probably did that because they deserved it. You know some people like Bieber and Cirus, in fact a lot of people apparently. Keeping up with the Kardashians and Honey BooBoo are hit shows. This tells you two things, Darwin was wrong, and a lot of people have really bad taste and will like just about anything that trends. Generally I find they don't even know why they like that stuff, but they will become obsessed with it, lose perspective then lash out at anyone who challenges their self induced misconception of what's good or bad in order to maintain the delusion that they are like everyone else and therefore excepted.
  3. God that sucked, I know some people liked it but that sucked. Major battle? 20 guys in the yard fighting a lot of guys on the wall standing around and looking, no sense of urgency. And the Wildlings use the worst battle plan ever. The attack consisted of 4 guys climbing the wall, 1 Mammoth, 2 giants and maybe 5 or 6 guys storming the gate with them or poking the mammoths ass with their spears. The guys on the wall killed more of their own than than Mance did. And Mance actually breached the wall with that force. Are you kidding me? This was all about the battle in the yard where the Wildlings seem to slaughter the 20 men defending it over and over. Yig got 20 kills by herself. Ghost was totally wasted, Ghost vision, quick shot of his mouth, then a long shot of him eating. Apparently Jon needed Ghost to kill one Wildling really badly. Thought Sam was cheesy, don't care if Grenn or Pip die, Gilly is still annoying and can't act. The forward or backward role seems to be the wildling standard for fighting. Jon was ok and had a decent fight scene, thought Thorne was the best in the episode. Honestly just did not feel much emotion it felt bland. CGI was decent, nothing special, really just kind of blah about the whole thing. Nothing really happened except a few secondary characters die who have no emotional attachment too on the show. The cliffhanger I new was coming, and I get it but that doesn't mean it works all that well. One thing I really couldn't stand was the wildling line, at no point did it look 100,000 strong, maybe 5000 which you know is fine, but for most of the episode whenever they showed them, they were standing there growling and snarling grrrrr, grrrrrr harg, snarl. Was the direction ok guys I need you to act like idiots. And what are they growling at, the men of the Watch are 700 feet up, they can't see your face, you like ants to them and they probably can barely hear you. Some stood there snarling and got shot, and about 10 seconds later after the third or 4th guy gets nailed they all act shocked and back up. This was suppose to be bigger than the Blackwater? Not even close, not even in the ball park. I give it 4 because Jon and Thorne were solid, it had some solid CGI here and there but for the most part everything around them sucked. Low energy, no emotion, bad acting. And that was not a battle is was friggin skirmish in the training yard. I am glad some liked but it just did nothing for me, this is episode 9 and that was boring.
  4. You think Jorah is the moral compass? That's interesting. Did you actually listen to what Jorah said? I am sure you heard it but did you listen. Jorah has his history even on the show. Jorah thinks selling slaves is ok, he has made excuses for it. He is indignant about what Ned Stark did. Slavery is one of those things that is not really grey, it's pretty black and white. Buy the Unsullied, sell slaves, it's all good if it gets him what he wants. Betray his lord, Betray his father, betray Viserys, betray Dany. Which I think this is the setup for. Jorah wants Dany and now Darrio is in the way. This will probably lead to the falling out. But a moral compass? How so? We know from the books that Jorah got some first hand and much needed lessons in slavery and he didn't like it. In fact he seems pretty pro kill the shit out of the slavers these days. He knows he has been an idiot, that he has a problem admitting his mistakes and tends to blame everyone else. It's his wife's fault, Neds fault, the slaves fault, it is always someone else. Well at least pre get the boot Jorah. But a Moral compass? People with a moral compass do not buy and sell slaves and betray everyone around them. Jorah wanted easy money to continue to try and buy his wife's love, so he sold some poachers got busted and refused to admit what he did was wrong or take responsibility for his actions. Just like he couldn't except that selling secrets about Dany was Betraying her. I like the character but he has his issues, like the rest of them, probably why I like him. Though I guess it depends on your compass, I am sure some people think kidnapping 300 girls is morally ok or they would of never done it. And when someone puts a bullet in the kidnappers heads I am going to feel totally fine about it, I am quirky like that. To be clear I don't think you think slavery is ok, just using a real world example of something most people are rather heavily offended by. You know someone could argue maybe it's like Disney land for the 276 girls still abducted. I am more of the mind they probably would rather go home, seems the more logical thought than happy slaves who like being kidnapped, and god knows what else.
  5. Jojen was having a vision of a burning hand, he wasn't making fire just seeing it, like he was seeing the tree. You may have gotten a rather large reaction from everyone had he actually created fire.
  6. I think they ran into problems trying to figure out why Sam wouldn't tell Jon about Bran. But Jon does know on the show, and it sort of felt like he was looking for an excuse to look for Bran plus I think it's more wishful thinking. Also I thought that was why Locke was going with him, and I did think it was primarily to kill the rouge watch. It does sort of make sense for Bran to be there. Though Jon must of healed from those arrows really quickly, Bran must have been north of the wall for weeks now. Without Coldhands those I am not sure what is guiding Bran. But he did get close to Crasters in the books. I am actually curious to see where this goes, it''s hard to gauge the direction a bit but I don't mind surprises, which this episode had plenty of. I can't say if it is good or bad for the show yet, but I do find it interesting which is better than uninterested.
  7. Just wondering, I watched inside the episode because I was curious to see what D&D would say about the last scene, and they just refer to all of them as WW. Though that is clearly not a formerly dead human or mummified human raised from the dead and riding a horse. There are lines within the skin but the skin is not leathered and dried then frozen like on the sort of commander WW or whatever you would call them. These seem something closer to actual Others but D&D didn't mention it. Darth popsicle as some are calling him clearly had a some major differences, skin, teeth, horn sickles on his head. Plus I think he was dressed by the cenobites. And no you don't need to answer me directly but just if you had any "Other" thoughts. I agree I highly doubt that's the great Other. But does seem a lot closer to the Others from the books than what we have seen so far. I believe D&D also said that is where the WW come from so, the Land of always winter, and it does have the lights, weather that's right or not, the way the y did it I don't know, but it did have lights. Odd that it was day time.
  8. D&D talk about it on inside the episode that is where the WW are from so we got to see a bit a of the lands of always winter, if you look up you can see the northern lights. They didn't say much else about it other than it's not in the books and they call all of them WW. They also said this has been long suspected with the babies. Oh and the preview for next week has Jon at Crasters.
  9. They had to do the Bran stuff because they can't have him getting to BR this early and they can't just keep having him not involved in anything. This will give him more interactions and screen time. The last seen has been long suspected, but those also look like the real Others, watching it on On demand again to get a better look and see what the commentary says if anything. I suspect those are the real Others as they are not in rags, don't look undead and look like a different race.
  10. Locke was created for the show, and replaced Hoat in the series. So one in the same, Martin requested the name change as the were not going to use much of the character he created.
  11. I give it a 10, the show embraced taking it's own direction and I actually find the two big northern plot twists interesting. Not a single complaint, great ending, and the entire episode was interesting all the way through. Was on the edge of my seat the last 3 minutes or so. It's not the books but that was a legitimate great episode for the show.
  12. Don't think so, those are the real Others, the Great Other is a god, like the Stranger, the Red God etc... Everything else appears to have been just undead. The dead guys on the horses look like raised dead, who had been mummified. But they look like dead mummified humans these guys look like a different race which the Others are and there is more than one of them, there was a whole line of them.
  13. Mind blown new about the babies already but finally the real Others, that's a different race looks like everything else was just undead. Guys on the undead horses are probably just mummified corpses that they raised or maybe something else but those guys guys at the end are clearly a different race, those are not humans and never were. Interesting twist with Bran not sure why they are doing it other than they have time to kill with him. Will be interesting to see how long it takes Jon to go 60 miles, the Goat about an episode to go about 600. I guess the Cersei Jaime thing from last week not much of a big deal between the two. Jaime and Brie was pretty good, and the Pod moment was excellent.
  14. So we finally see the real Others, and holy shit called it with the Babies.
  15. Yeah I agree there were a couple of things that sort of felt Lord of the Ringish and out of place for the series tonight.
  16. Yeah I gave it a 6, was going to be a 5, but being under the weather and probably more critical than normal I gave it the benefit of the doubt and gave it a 6. Look I thought it was mediocre, but there are far worse things out there than that. You ever see into the Blue or any of those fast five movies? Those are like 2's and 3's, this was better than that by a bit, so 5 or 6.
  17. 6, it was ok, nothing stood out, except I felt the acting was a bit over the top all around. It felt more melodramatic than dramatic to me. Oberyn keeps doing the same thing, raise chin, stare, cock head to the side a bit make a quip. Not really sure if that was Stannis panic but he never seems to have the answer to anything. Dink is pushing his accent to hard, it's like he is speaking to children all the time. Sort of incest rape, a lot of Sam not doing much, a little of Jon being broody but not much else. The Wildlings, I am going to eat mommy and daddy, yes I know your so bad and scary, you can't act but so scary, really. Oh god and little finger elongating every word he could. Speaking of bad acting Tywin and Tommen what was that? It was like some dark version of school house rocks. Arya and the hound came off almost like a comedy schtick to me, meet the Odd couple. I thought the gate to Meereen was the best part in terms of production and melodrama, Dany has always been a bit melodramatic, so fit right in with her. Drama or Soap Opera can be a fine line at times, I don't think D&D would know a fine line if they tripped over it, probably hit it with a sledge hammer like most things if they did. I don't mind the changes, or anything, just thought the acting, themes, and plot were a bit off tonight, and I didn't find much interesting in the episode.
  18. Cersei/Brie = you are right. Let the shipping begin as Martin wrote that.
  19. I gave it a 9. Jack killed his death scene. Though some stuff was over the top, the episode was also very subtle. Tyrion and Joff were outstanding at the wedding, I did not mind the Viper and Cers scene, I rather enjoyed it, I don't really recall the Viper being all that subtle to begin with. Jaime and Bronn I thought worked, I am always ok with more Bronn, thought Mel and Dragonstone was really interesting. Though I sure could use a little Jingle bell rock. Brans vision was great, and I enjoyed the brief scene we got. Theon and Ram were great, I don't really have a complaint. I just really enjoyed the episode and there were subtle clues I think people are missing, that Martin dropped in there, going to watch it again and look it's starting. Da da da da Da da da da.
  20. Got a 70 not that size matters to a guy or anything, but mines bigger, it's bigger, hahaha seriously my tv is huge. Sometimes I have to watch stuff twice because it's so big I can only watch half the screen at one time.
  21. Well Tyrion touches the cup and wine, Sansa touches the cup and the thorn in the Lions paw is sitting right next to the cup when Tyrion picks it up off the table to give to Joff. They make sure she is in the shot. Now for a moment of silence to honor the legendary King Joffrey Baratheon first of his name, hero of the Black water, who single handedly defeated all five Kings without breaking a sweat, who exposed and Ned Stark for the treasonous bastard he was, who gave the evil Sansa a proper beating, the god king to whom the world bent the knee. His kind heart that gave Jobs to dwarves when no one else would, who fed the belligerent peasants with a firm hand and love instead of things like pretentious food, who took in a Queen who had lost her king and made her his wife, who out smarted Tyrion the stupid evil dwarf time and time again. The man the myth the modern day warrior King Joffrey Baratheon who may now rule the seven heavens as he once ruled the seven kingdoms.
  22. You are correct they are not cannibals, poor Alys.
  23. Nope, another far more liked Karstark.
  24. Changed a lot from the books, a little over the top, I give it a 7, though I know Jaime is not acting like he should from the books. But I can see where it is going with his character, it seems to make sense. Pro's Arthur Dayne Dunk Flower power Dragons New Darrio, better than old Darrio Production values Wolf pelt on the fire Joff touching the White book, so wrong but so perfect, he won the war and Broke Stannis, I was waiting for him to write his own name in the book. Dead child, Cons Brie and Marg WTF, oh high it's great to meet you nothing odd here. Nothing like Grey Tyrion, oh wait that's the books Over the top Oberyn not to bad, but a little pushy skipped the Tyrion story would have liked that. Arya, felt a little early for that jump in brutality, at least for me. The necklace from Ser Dontos Nothing really bad for me except the Brie and the Tyrell moment, just some things that felt a bit out of place. Nothing really spectacular, Dragons looked good some nice book drops, had a nice feel to it. Liked Dontos a lot more than I thought I would. It was good, with some very good moments, not sure what else to say
