  1. How is he going to decide this when he's at Winterfell and she is at the Wall?
  2. I thought it was awful, with the exception of the pit scene and even that, um, hey where are the unsullied? LOL.
  3. "This" is kind of ambiguous as to whether "this" means Shireen being burned or Stannis doing it, if GRRM does it in the books I will say it sucks also and is a betrayal of the character he has written up to an including the released Winds chapter.
  4. When did they confirm this? It's news to me about I'd guess about 99% of people posting here that GRRM confirmed that Stannis burned Shireen, but I'm open to being proven wrong with a link.
  5. You mean like Sansa getting raped, change something like that. LOL.
  6. I don't believe he will burn Shireen in the books. At all.
  7. Who is he? The entity on GOT called Stannis Baratheon has now zero to do with the book character by that name.
  8. This show is shit. There I said it. Fuck you Dan and Dave.
  9. HA HA. Ima poison you, lemme whip out that vial of poison right here in front of you. LMAO. This show rocks.
  10. That was the first laugh out loud. When Elaria pours her drink on the floor. This show is a laugh riot.
  11. That would be better, but it will still be a little strange, since he didn't do fuck all to try and find his brother Bran who he knows is alive somewhere up North, so for him to throw away all of his vows over Sansa especially the sister who he was never close with...be kind of odd.
  12. There were other NW witnesses who can vouch for the NK and the Others killing a ton of wildlings and then immediately raising them into wights. So, the show should find a different reason for them to stab him than making peace with the wildlings to fight the Others, because they're not 100% sure on the threat, because after Hardhome they will be 1000% sure of the threat.
  13. It's stupid to take your wife and child into battle, that's why. It is clearly done for plot reasons because it makes no sense otherwise. I didn't say it was a big deal, it's just one of the many little stupid things they do in the show that don't hold up to any analysis beyond 20 seconds. The clans matter for the same reason the Northern lords matter, because they all want to see a Stark back in Winterfell. If you don't see the relevance of that, I can't help you.
  14. I wonder how you would even go about trying to weight how much book content is in the show. Dorne? It seems like 10% is about right, the only characters who are themselves are Doran and Myrcella, the plot is unbelievably silly. Mereen, might hit about 75% I know a lot has been taken out but the basic thread is there and nothing too crazy has been done. King's Landing? Where do you begin? How do you score Tommen who is a teenager but still can't get anything done and Cersei whose only show mistake is arming the Faith, and Marg is in jail like the books, but on a totally different charge, and is a different person? Is that a 50/50? The Wall, similar to Meereen, most of the beats are there, but a lot of weird mixing and matching has been done with Stannis, he's got an army, he needs an army, taking the women on the march, no clans, the Hardhome thing was cool on the show, but with all those witnesses to the Others legit danger, his stabbing will be more crazy in the show, won't it? Sansa goes to Winterfell, LOL, that's maybe 20%? We have some of the same people but mostly other than getting ready for Stannis everything else is different. Arya's story is 80% book, even though they'e not done a very good job with the visual depiction and explanation. So, we have maybe a 40/60 split with 60% being not from the books or something like that? and some stories there is almost nothing from the books?
  15. I didn't make any comment on the last two books, but there is certainly enough plot in the books to make a decent season of TV, and the failings of the books don't have any bearing on the different failings of the show. Dorne was bad in the books. Instead of improving it, it's actually worse, much worse in the show. The introduction of the Sparrows and them taking over KL has not been handled that well, the aged up Tommen who still can't get anything done doesn't work for me, neither do the changed reasons for Marg's arrest, arresting the Queen of Westeros for telling a white lie is pretty silly if you think about for more than the time it takes to watch the scene. But that's a nitpick I guess, LOL. Meereen and the Wall have worked better than any other plots this season, though there are continuity issues with Jon's story as well. I can't imagine Arya's story makes much sense to anyone who hasn't read the books, but maybe it does, it seems somewhat random to me and could have been handled better if they simply had Arya and Tom W. interacting more directly....which I assume is why they brought him back, but they haven't really used him much. Sansa in Winterfell, even ignoring the utter stupidity of it plotwise has wasted the actors, no good scenes between Sophie and Alfie until ep. 8, nothing between her and Roose of any consequence.
  16. Speaking as a show critic, there is plenty to criticize just in terms of the show's own inconsistency with itself, without resorting to wanting "every single ridiculous thing in the books" to be in the show, which I doubt anyone wants or advocates. I'd like some attention to detail, continuity, plot logic and good TV pacing, which isn't too much to ask. And yes, ep. 8 was a good episode, the best of the seaon. "Best Ever" I don't think so, by a long shot.
  17. Full Disclosure: I hated the Meereen story and feel it destroyed Dany's character, for me anyway...and that GRRM has written himself into a corner. If she burns Meereen to the ground, that doesn't set her up as much of a savior for Westeros, but how is she going to realistically get the fuck to Westeros and leave Meereen in some semblance of order and hopefulness? My guess is he will go for the later and try to leave things somehow hopeful. But, yeah, the show is in a much more tricky position w/Meereen than the books, because they are literally going to have Tyrion and Dany together for only 2 or 3 scenes and she will be gone, and then Meereen will be really dull because there is no one good for Tyrion to interact w/there, so they have to wrap it up VERY early next year. I hope anyway.
  18. I don't know about that as the reason, but the show isn't going to be able to spend much time in Meereen with Dany gone off on Drogon; they're going to have to resolve the entire Meereen/Essos story fairly quickly next year and get everyone to Westeros, so it will be interesting, especially w/no Selmy and Jorah w/greyscale what they do with Meereen after she leaves. I assume Tyrion will be running things w/Jorah's help unless he dies this year.
  19. LOL, that is probably more on point that ranting about the rant and ravers, no? I HATE the Tyrion as a secret Targ idea, and hope it's false, and so far, the show hasn't even hinted at such a thing, especially w/Tyrion killing his father saying I am your son. I agree that there is the possibility that Jon is a legitimized Targaryen, but I still lean toward the idea that it's his blood that will be important and not his legitimacy, e.g. he's not going to sit the IT and no one but his immediate circle may ever know his true identity.
  20. I think he was going to suggest a combo, exactly what happened in the books. She confesses to some stuff, and so gets the walk and more privileges....but is still to have trial on the other stuff...which is where we get the mountain who will probably have a head in the show, LOL.
  21. Probably more ambiguity and a lot more explanation but they're clearly the bad guys in the books also. Mel is wrong about a lot of stuff, but I don't think she's wrong about the battle for the survival of humanity, and even in the very first GOT chapter, they're bad guys.
  22. I thought it was a good episode. They've been improving since ep. 5, slowly but steadily. The Hardome battle was one of their better choreographed fight scenes, which they haven't done well this season. Still don't like skeleton wights, and didn't quite understand why the free folk weren't ready with some kind of fire arrows or somebody using fire against them. Tyrion and Dany meeting was somewhat underwhelming but decent.
  23. Can't agree on Stoneheart. The viewers need something to cheer for, a reason to feel hopeful. This season they took out Bran, took out Rickon and Osha, and for whatever reason decided to make Sansa's life ever more miserable, and Arya is in a holding patter [why they haven't done more with Tom I have no idea...we should be seeing something more like her dialogues w/Charles Dance here....where they use the chemistry between those two actors and give us some back story..interspersed w/various other stuff with the FM..they've wasting his return]. Stoneheart and the brotherhood keeps a link to the RW, the Freys and all of those characters the viewer already knows, they could have invented something for these guys to do...and this is especially true as it looks like they bringing the Riverlands back next season. I agree on Meereen, viewers, like a lot of readers are sick of her stuck there and I feel they have done a fairly good job with that, other than wasting Selmy and his death.
