  1. I liked the one last season, this one, for GRRM, not so much.
  2. I thought it was extremely stupid, and she isn't that dumb in the show. My sister and father will kill you, so you have to get on the boat, end of discussion is much more sensible than what they did.
  3. My guess is Varys, Bronn mentions Varys in the scene, I think. I really disliked this. Back to Shae Superwoman Whore. She loves Tyrion and WTF? He thinks it's better to tell her he wants her to leave because she's a whore instead of to save her life? When did he get this stupid?
  4. I'm back to thinking they're going to have Tywin kill Shae and it will be a total total whitewash of the whole thing.
  5. I gave it a generous 8, kind of choppy, the Bolton stuff was very good, Joff's death was good, not nearly as good as last week.
  6. I didn't like him, too bland. He's not enough of an upgrade that I see for a recasting.
  7. I loved it. Not sure about bringing the "Mercy" stuff up this early, but otherwise, it was great.
  8. That wasn't "important". It's an example of the show changing something--wildlings not naming their children until they are 2--that easily could have been left in, to give more depth and understanding of how harsh the wildling life and culture is compared to Westeros In favor of a couple of "awe shucks" cutsey moments of baby name talk and ooh she's naming the baby Sam. It has zero importance in the plot, but was changed from something subtle and telling into cheap sentimentality. But, that's how the show rolls.
  9. The issue isn't that sex workers can't have emotions or fall in love with their clients, it is that THIS PARTICULAR sex worker--we know is going to end up dead, so the decisions made about her character are puzzling, especially if the show sticks with the major plot point of having Tyrion kill her. Sex workers, I would think also are capable of logic and rational thinking, in which case TV Shae should have taken the bag of diamonds.
  10. I don't have a problem w/making Tyrion a nicer guy on the show, Dinklage is fantastic, and I agree, it can't that everyone who isn't a child is a jerk. I don't really get why they chose to make Shae the hooker with a heart of gold, given their penchant for red herrings, I would have thought making her role more ambiguious where the audience is never sure if she means it/or is faking it would have been a better choice and would have given them more leeway in how to wrap her story up. Having her refuse a giant bag of diamonds, enough to live well on for the rest of her life is stretching credulity beyond the limits.
  11. Probably. I am 60/40 on the prospect. Pro Tyrion kills her: D&D like drama and surprises. The build up of the relationship w/Shae being real would make him killing her much, much more of a shock. Con Tyrion kills her: He is the hero of the show and it will be VERY difficult as they've characterized her to date for her to turn evil enough to make her murder justified. So, I lean toward Tywin killing her, because I don't think they can pull off darkening Shae's character realistically enough that the audience will go 'she deserved it' when Tyrion strangles the funny whore who just turned down a giant bag of diamonds to stay with him, who loves him, who loves Sansa....
  12. It's an adaptation. They give Oscar's for best adapted screenplay, which means, somewhere, someone must believe that yes you can judge the adaptation against the original. It's done all the time. Did they capture the essense? Did they understand and translate the themes? Was it a hit or a miss? Everyone knows that adapting a book for a visual medium is not going to exact, and that yes, people will disagree over what is and what is not a crucial scene or character or whether changes are good, bad or neutral.
  13. If I had to guess, I would guess that they will keep Charles Dance until almost the end of next year. But, as far as new characters, who is a must other than the Red Viper and at least one of the Greyjoys?
  14. Ending with Arya would have been a nice touch for Stark fans, I agree, they could have given her the line about the lone wolf dies but the pack survives or some kind of approximate. But, apparently the series is really about Jesus Tarygaryen and not the Starks, who knew.
  15. Having Varys be the architect of the PW and of framing Tyrion instead of LF would be a huge departure from the books.
  16. I know most people feel that way, but I thought this season was much worse and more disjointed overall than last year, to each his own I guess. Some people even say they think this season was better than the first year, which I find impossible to comprehend.
  17. Third try. Anyone else think the boy reveal was a snoozer?
  18. I'm guessing you are wrong. No Coldhands. He does nothing to advance the plot, adds nothing to the plot and then he disappears. He's not going to be in the show.
  19. Timing is irrelevant in the books considering what they have done so far. Do you really think they are going to devote that many segments to Cat, her getting fished out of the river, and Beric reviving her, considering how little screen time she got when she was ALIVE and that Lady Stoneheart doesn't actually do anything but hang one Frey and then meet up with Brienne. I guess I see it the opposite, the RW will be forgotten by next year, the time to make an impact on the audience is now.
  20. The actress had a 3 season deal, she spoke in detail about her feelings leaving the series. The time for the audience to feel the most emotional impact from LS is now, when the RW is fresh in their minds. Next year, it will be pointless because she doesn't actually do anything or relate to anyone else's storyline and all the rest of the story moves away from anything to do with revenge for the RW until the last book.
  21. Cause they are not going to have her in the series, just like they are not going to have Coldhands either. At all.
  22. With no LS in this episode there is a very, very good chance she's not going to show up at all in the series.
  23. It's going to be strange now if they don't have Joff's wedding as the first episode now that Jamie and Brienne are in KL with Sansa still there.
  24. Ask yourself when have D&D been subtle and you have you answer. Dany=messiah. Straight up.
