  1. Because the dialogue is by far the least believable part of a series premised on three dragons fighting off a zombie army. Sniping and snarking really doesn't make me think people are clever. If you don't like the show, watch wheel of fortune.
  2. Because the dragons need riders to be seriously effective in that type of battle. Hence the need for Danny to fly on Drogon. Arya might well assume that Jon had taken the name Stark on becoming king of the north. The point is that she does not think of her sister as 'Lady Stark'. Or for that matter, herself.
  3. The point of having him drown was that is exactly what happened to Tyrion when he organized the defense of Kings Landing. Having him saved from dragon fire and then drown anyway is exactly the sort of thing D&D would do. If Jamie survives and is captured, Danny might be a little too powerful. Kill him off and Cersei becomes the mad Queen - just like her father.
  4. I was agreeing with you and commenting on the dozen previous comments about bad acting. Its like the refusal to accept the idea that St Stannis would never burn Shireen. I thought that was going to happen to her before they left Dragonstone. GRRM foreshadowed it with the burning of the idols of the seven. I read the books before Shireen even appeared in the HBO story. I thought it was part joke and part a suggestion that maybe Missandrei was overselling her Queen.
  5. I get rather fed up of folk complaining that X is bad acting because Y isn't like that. No, Bran has become all knowing, he isn't fully human any more. So the the directors have made him somewhat autistic. The first three eyed crow turned into a tree, remember?
  6. They don't have to go very far. They can make multiple trips. It would be logical to billet the majority of the Dothraki on the mainland in any case. Remember Waterloo? Wellington's cavalry were scattered because each horse requires feed and they have to be spread out. They used to have one forager per horse to collect food. So it would be illogical to put them on dragonstone where there isn't any food.
  7. I am genuinely uncertain as to whether Jamie is alive or not. It seems most likely to me that he is dead. This was the shortest episode they have done. If Jamie was coming back, they would show him captured. Another thing that makes me think he is dead is Tyrion's line, 'you stupid bastard'. Charging a wounded dragon armed only with a spear is really stupid. Having him survive two near death experiences and die in a third along with Bron trying to save him does seem like a suitable exit for him. It also means Cersei has gained the iron throne at the cost of everything she ever cared about. Her husband, children and entire family are dead except for Tyrion who is trying to kill her after she tried to kill him. It did seem very likely to me that at the start of the season that Jamie dies in episode 6. It would not surprise me if Cersei dies as well at this point. Seems like they are clearing the decks for the wall falling at the end of episode 7 and the fight with the WWs. The only wildcard left is littlefinger.
  8. The Dothraki rode from Dragonstone to KL. They would only need to cross the sea by boat and they would not have committed their entire fleet to Casterly Rock. Dragonstone is closer to KL than Highgarden the Dothraki are fresh and they are on horseback. It is completely predictable that they would be able to cut off Jamie's army.
  9. Looks like Jonearis is going to be happening in the near future. It was pretty much inevitable from the start. They are both single, they are both sovereigns by right of arms and by popular acclaim. They both have a powerful political need for the alliance. Davos and Varys are likely to put the proposal to them. The irony for folk shipping Jon and Sansa who think they are half brother and sister is that Jon and Danny are Aunt and Nephew. And there is that thing about Jon actually having a stronger claim to the throne than Danny. But Targs were in for the incests thing. We don't know who proposed sacking the loot train but we did see Jon point out that Danny cannot destroy castles with her dragons. The bigger issue in a short while is going to be famine in the whole of Westeros but especially Kings Landing. The showrunners have to get the whole show move up north, including Cersei. Taking Jamie out seems to be a part of that. Either Jamie is dead or he is captured. Either way, he is not going to be there to fight Cersei's land battles. Furthermore, Danny and Jon have proven themselves personally, Cersei has not.
  10. Bron saves Jamie from the fire. It is not entirely clear Jamie survives but it will be resolved next episode. I did get the feeling last week that Jamie might go out in episode 6 and so we would see the full Cersei unbound thing. Brienne is a knight, trained to bash peasant's heads in on horseback. Arya is demonstrating that the can take out Sandor Clegane. The minute Jamie said that, I thought, dragons coming... It stands to reason you would move the gold as fast as possible. Armies take a long time to gather up. Brienne's sword is absurdly large. It would be almost unusable. But that is Hollywood tradition. Arya's sword is appropriately sized for her, one of the few that is.
  11. I think Littlefinger will end up exactly as he said he plans, sitting on the iron throne with Sansa at his side. And then she will give him the stabby-stabby.
  12. There is no possible way that Cersei is Tyene or Ellaria's kill. They can't even kill Ser Gregor, he belongs to the hound. One thing that did just occur to me is that we have not seen Bronn in a very long time and he did have a thing for Tyene. There just aren't very many Lannisters left to kill. Other than Bronn, the only other notable vassal on Cersei's team is Qyburn.
  13. Part of GRRM's point is that the Game of Thrones is played by the likes of Cersei in complete disregard for the common folk. So I think it likely some of the common folk are likely to play a role in bringing her down - or trying to. D&D are very very fond of their references. Often an episode will have repeated references in a chiasmus, like when Arya washes a corpse for having its face removed and then showing Sansa being bathed before her wedding. The Jamie/Cersei and Grey Worm/Missandrei sex scenes were both with a crippled man. One was the first, the other is implied to be the last. So the occurrence of the maid is obviously significant. But how. Right now, Cersei seems to hold all the cards and I expect her hand will improve even more this weekend. But she is clearly being set up for a major fall.
  14. I get the feeling from the books that Arya's plot arc is to be fixed on killing Cersei and then not doing so but at the last minute. It had looked like we were set for the Hound and Arya to team up and off Cersei together but then for the Hound to stop Arya and do it himself. But they are all going in the wrong direction right now. Unless of course, Cersei heads north. Arya has to have a big payoff for that ninja training and Cersei is the only kill left, the Nights King has to belong to Jon. On the prophecy thing, we are far from the books because the books revolve around a second prophecy that only Jamie is likely to know, the prophecy that drove Areys mad and Rheagar into rebellion ahead of Robert. I suspect that there is a valonquar in that as well. The business of Jamie sitting on the throne after killing Aegon suggests that he did it to fulfill the prophecy. I rather suspect Tywin was wrong and Tyrion was his only legitimate son. His condition being caused by Tywin's attempt to kill Tyrion in the womb. We might well get that at the start of season 8. Unless of course Cersei is out first. Whatever else, I am pretty sure that there was a purpose to re-introducing that maid. Perhaps she had a brother killed in the Sept, perhaps she is going to let the sand snakes out. Cersei really did break the cardinal evil overlord rule leaving them to die like that. Surely they carry antidote. I don't think they will get Cersei but they might cause her to abandon KL.
  15. Aegon was never a vassal of any of the kings, he was not a usurper, he was a conqueror. Treason never prospers for if it prosper... The rule in Plantagenate times was that the first claimant to make it to the Royal treasury at Winchester was king. Because they would have the funds and their competitors would not. That is why when Willy the Conc. had an accident on his horse in France, his entire party ran off to make it to Winchester first instead of helping him.
  16. How do you know? She decided not to kill Cersei and go back to Winterfell. Then she met Nymeria and realized she couldn't go back to her old life.
  17. I think people are missing the point of the Jon/Danny meeting. Of course Danny is stiff, she is acting a character who isn't entirely in to the Queen thing. She tries the full Targ Heir thing and is doesn't work on Jon. Not yet, anyway. The main consequence of this episode is that the civil war is now in the end game. There are no minor players left. It is down to Cersei vs Danny Jon vs the White walkers. Only Littlefinger and Sansa are left as free agents. As a rough rule of thumb, the more people complain about a scene being unnecessary or pointless, the more consequential it turns out to be. Arya's scene with Nymeria last week set up her scene this week. Which nobody has commented on yet.

  19. Brother and legitimate heir... Might be an issue for some...
  20. Jamie is obvious. The Hound seemed likely to be the one till this episode, he is the younger brother of the mountain. I thought maybe he kills Cersei to stop Arya doing it. But now... Theon is heading that way. The only character who has been called little brother repeatedly.
  21. I have seen politicians make similarly idiotic pitches. See Theresa May in the UK who presided over a cabinet of waring tribes and tried to pass herself off as 'strong and stable'.
  22. Oh yes indeedy. The doggies cost vastly more than the dragons because they have fur and fur is really expensive to model. You have to do each hair.
  23. They needed to re-introduce the dire wolves. Given how expensive they are, they won't have done it on a whim. My take on it was that reconnecting with Nymeria means the exact opposite, she is reconnecting with her family, the family she lost after she lost Nymeria. Well there is the theory that Lightbringer is Grey Worms's cock and that he will be restored by the lord of light.
  24. Well the faith of the seven is extinct at this point in KL and it seems that the Red God is on the rise. It seems very likely that the evil Red God and the evil White Walkers are the Ice and Fire. So we will probably find out a bit more about them both. Kinvara is quite likely travelling with the Armada leaving her minions in Meereen to pacify it. If so, the Red Woman probably dies soon. Note we are told that Mel isn't as good at being a Red priestess.
