  1. Actually, I'll disagree slightly. Those people you mention don't actually hate the show. A person doesn't watch a show immediately when it comes out, and then goes to an online forum about the show right after, if that person hates that show. What I believe is that some people have combined 2 things: 1. They enjoy being contrarians. Sometimes certain people believe that going against the crowd makes a person unique/insightful/special. GOT is extremely popular with the masses, so it's tempting to go against its popularity. 2. Some book people like the fact they read these books before the show, and somehow feel like the show's popularity somehow takes away from the special little niche they had with knowing this story. Combine those 2 qualities and you get a person who comes here week after week to vote a 1. (The above commentary refers to the people who vote 1 week after week. It does not refer to people who have valid criticisms about the show. But giving a 1 every week is nothing but trolling. Again, a person doesn't waste that much time on a piece of entertainment that they hate, especially since it would spoil the very books they claim to love.)
  2. This director (same one that did hardhome) really does a good job in terms of pacing. Any problems I had with the show (not many, mostly minor) are ones where it seems like certain scenes aren't developed well enough. Some scenes seem to be thrown in there and seem a bit ragged. This director does a nice job getting the most out of each scene. They should have him do more episodes.
  3. Not just you. Down for lots of people...
  4. Better than commercial, and critical, failure.
  5. Considering it sounds like a substantial part of Bran's story is straight from GRRM, sounds like you're going to be really disappointed in the final books.
  6. I think this was better than having a dragon come save her, again. Here, she has agency, she doesn't need a savior. She asserts herself and is wholly successful for the first time in a long time (I'm thinking since the time she acquired the unsullied.) Plus, I think most were expecting the dragon flying in to save the day. This makes her stronger. She proves she has an inner strength by formulating how to unite the hordes and kill the khals....and she has dragons. It makes her more formidable.
  7. That may be true, but irrelevant to the point. In the show, she was a true believer up until the fire was lit.
  8. She was a true believer in the show as well until she saw her daughter burning.
  9. Don't get mad at me. I'm just the messenger. Here's the exact quote from post credits: "It's obviously the hardest choice he's had in his life, and what it comes down to is just ambition vs familial love, and for Stannis sadly that choice is ambition. When George first told us about this, I remember looking at Dan and was just like god, that's so horrible, and so good in a story sense because it all comes together, from the beginning, from the first time we saw Stannis and Melissandre, they were sacrificing people. They were burning people alive on the beaches of dragonstone."
  10. Because it was his idea? If you watched after the credits, GRRM told the show runners this was the plan for Stannis and his daughter.
  11. Had to finally post just to say that was incredible. Fantastic to see that the rumor that dragon glass isn't the only weapon that can damage the walkers. That scene was just terrific.
