He has more targ blood than anyone except the obvious 3, and if Stannis was ever close enough to one he would try to ride it. It would be the ultimate test for someone who wants to sit the iron throne, and Stannis is no coward Truth is, he could be. And he would absolutely try it. Hell, Shireen quite possibly has dragon dreams - we can't be sure, of course, but they don't sound that different from the kinds of dreams that Prince Daeron or Jon the Fiddler/Daemon II had.
