Daenerys Three Treasons

I firmly believe that the treason for love that Dany will know (nods to Ned Sand) is the treason Rhaegar committed by bedding Lyanna and begetting Jon.

If you believe that R+L=J then hopefully you would agree that Rhaegar's treason is the most important treason in the series. At some point it will have to be revealed, and it will be a big deal when Dany finds out.

So what I figure is that we have a treason for love that Dany will know, linked to a vision of Rhaegar dying and whispering (probably) Lyanna's name. The most important treason in the series is Rhaegar's. And when Dany finds out it will be a treason she will know. Putting all of this together, I think it is fairly safe to say that it will count as the treason mentioned in the prophesy.

I also see Viserys' death as almost a blessing to Dany, not really a betrayal of her. Drogo was on Dany's side more than anything. What I meant that the other events happened to her, in her immediate life. Dany wasn't even born yet at the Battle of the Trident, is my main logic for "that one didn't involve her."

Marwyn the Mage "Prophecy will bite your prick off every time"

If you ask me, the problem with prophecy is that people either read too much into it, or they try to make their own interpretation true.

Until GRRM shows us otherwise I'm going to follow Dany's interpretations because they are the only ones GRRM provides us with.

MMD=Blood/revenge

Jorah=Love of his homeland, Love for Dany, who knows

?=Gold

The only thing that would disincline me to believe Jorah's betrayal was the one for love would be that it is not in the same order the prophecy was given in. That being said, I hope I'm wrong and Tyrion loves Jaime prediction is right.

With respect, I come out differently on this. Treason against a person can only be committed by some one who owes that person a duty of loyalty. Very few people owe a duty of loyalty to an unborn younger daughter who was, at best, fifth in the succession at that time. So, no, Dany wasn't involved personally in the battle of the Trident. She wasn't there. No one who served her was there. She wasn't even born.

Did affect her personally? Oh, heck yeah -- for all the reasons you mentioned. But, I think there's a nontrivial distinction between being involved and being affected.

For instance, Ashara Dayne was not involved in the murder of Brandon Stark at King's Landing, but it surely affected her. At least partly as a result of that event, she's dead.

How can this be a treason against Dany? Rhaegar was the Crown Prince and lawful Targaryen heir? There is precedent for Targaryen polygamy. Rhaegar can't commit treason against his unborn baby sister.

That's "could have". I hate it when people do that. It sounds like "could of" when talking, which is actually "could've", a contraction of "could have". Don't say "could of", it's really annoying. At least to me.

That goes for all you people who do that.

But anyway, so far I think the most sure treason is Mirri Maz Durr's, the one for blood.

I think that you might could of thought of a better term to use than "Internet Grammar Nazi"... How about "Electronic Communication Medium Grammatical Error Indication and Correction Specialist"?

I don't especially care about the betrayals or the details of them myself. I only hope that the last one results in the way that Robert Baratheon originally intended it; a good sharp knife.

I think Daario is just there to illustrate Dany's weakness for dangerous men. Dany's tragic flaw will come into play again when Victarion (or Euron) shows up with that lovely fleet. Similar to Jon and his strained relationships with all those redheads

So, I reread the "crowning" chapter of aGoT last night. I have come to a different understanding. I think the treason is Viserys betraying Dany for gold. Recall that he wanted to sell her dragon eggs. He threatened to cut Rhaego out of her with a sword on Dothraki sacred ground. The scene feels like Drogo is being loyal to Dany and his traditions while Viserys is betraying his sister. So, that's two treasons directly against Dany (blood and gold).

I have a wicked idea for the betrayal for gold. Tyrion goes over to Dany and becomes a dragon-rider. Dany decides to conquer the free-cities. During the war, the sailor’s wife is killed, but Arya keeps baby Lanna. Somehow Tyrion finds out about Lanna, and switches sides as Dany makes the final attack on Braavos.

The gold in question? Lanna’s hair…
