Maester Mando
I just reread the ten thousand ships chapter of twoiaf and wondered that nymeria and the rhoynar were attacked by CORSAIRS. The section on the basilisk isles states that corsairs came aftr the century of blood. Or have there been corsairs before? Did i miss something? TheSovereignGrave
Perhaps they were just attacked by raiders of some sort, and the term 'corsair' was used for simplicity since that's what raiders out of the Basilisk Isles are known today. Maester Mando
The world book says they were attacked by the corsair kings of Ax Isle, Talon and the Howling Mountain
TheSovereignGrave
Huh, it does. Either it's an inconsistency, the corsairs lived there prior to the Doom, or it was just a group of petty Kings that Yandel labelled 'corsairs'.
Maester Mando
If its an inconsistency itd be a pretty obvious one. I also wondered why some rhoynar settled on basilisk point, which wss close to the valyrian colony gogossos.I cant imagine this as an inconsistency. As i said it would be too obvious.I mean its very far away from the valyrian heartland. Maybe only gogossos and the rest of the isle of tears were under valyrian control and the rest of the isles were under control of corsairs and slavers. Some clarification would be nice.
