And how does it make his parentage a secret too dangerousto share, even with those one loves and trusts?

Because it's a shocking scandal that could bring down a dynasty! Or something. I mean, if Robert Baratheon found out that his ex-fiance's brother knocked up some chick from Dorne, then of course the baby must die!

Ned was right to take Ashara's baby away from her/her family - it's not like Dorne has a more tolerant attitude to bastards, right? So it's much better to lug the baby back to the bleak North and bring a lifetime of shame to himself and his new wife (not to mention the stigma to the child), allow Catelyn to believe the worst about Ned and blame him for the rest of their lives together, and shove the kid right under her nose so she'll always be reminded of his infidelity. That makes more sense than either leaving the kid in Dorne or admitting to her that legendary pants-man Brandon fathered a bastard before his death. Shocking!

Not only do these theories have nothing to back them up in the texts, but they don't make any sense either when you use logic to pick them apart. Which creates more hoops that need to be jumped through, until the fan-fiction gets so out of control that I get an attack of the vapours and need to lie down.
