The HotD theme song that should have been?

There's been speculation that this  was originally meant to be the show's opening theme, before HBO got lazy and insecure and said - no, just re-use the GoT theme, we need to tie this show to GoT as much as possible.

That would make a lot of sense, as:

1) in episode 2, the first one with the opening titles, this track is used for the closing titles.

2) on the HotD season 1 soundtrack, the re-used GoT theme opens the soundtrack, and "Promise" closes the soundtrack,

3) the same theme in different variations appears throughout the season, including the slow, melancholy, dramatic version ("We Light the Way") that plays during the end montage of 1x05, but doesn't seem associated with any specific character.

In any case, the epic "Promise" version sounds like it could be and should've been the theme song, and I hope they switch to it for season 2. Re-using the GoT theme was always embarrassing, and now HBO should be aware that HotD is a big success on its own and doesn't need to associate itself with GoT in every possibel way.
