I would refer you to the map book GRRM has put out and his statement that no character will go father east then they already have accept in flashbacks.

As to that, I'll have to wait until summer before I can pick up a copy of that, since I'm living abroad til then.

I'd like to see new lands, too, like Asshai or Valyria. Since there are only two books left, I think Martin will just going to wrap up the storylines of the characters and bring some of them to meet together in one place. I don't mind spin offs after the series is finished though.

I believe that Dany will pass through Valyria on her way to Westeros and that Gerion Lannister will be of some importance. Maybe Tyrion will find his family's Valyrian sword there.

If I was a betting man (and I am), I would place good odds that Dany will be visiting Asshai before her tale is done. There has been far too much foreshadowing regarding the dragons that awoke there and Quaithe specifically telling Dany to go there. There's also Melisandre thinking about how Asshai is a magical hinge similar to the Wall.

Also GRRM never said that we will never see Asshai in a POV. He said no POV would see it in aFfC.
