Roadside Rose
Keep the magic in the background, let it remain a mystery, the unknown, something the common folk talk about that happened hundreds of years ago, but has been gone from the lands, but it is happening all around them, they just can't see it. :agree: I like magic when it's balanced. But I'd like ASOIAF without it too.
WinterKing
I prefer the magic-related plots, so I'd not have liked it so much if it hadnt magic.
Timothy Quentin Cray
I'd enjoy it without magic, but probably only as a trilogy ending with the War of Five Kings. I'm only really interested in the 'magical' elements because the others and the dragons force us to look at the bigger picture and make the political intrigues of KL look slightly absurd. LordStoneheart
Every time this topic is mentioned I always insist that you couldn't separate the two without making a much shorter and less deep story. WoFK wouldn't have happened like it did otherwise.
Queen Regent of Westeros
I'd enjoy it without magic, but probably only as a trilogy ending with the War of Five Kings.Didn't GRRM say at one point it was originally just going to be a trilogy? :leer:
Daecon Dayne
For one: without magic, Bran's fate would've been especially cruel. Poor Bran.
