Olligarchy Posted February 22, 2014 Share Posted February 22, 2014 I always viewed Stannis from the perspective of medieval European nobility. Whilst most could not be said to be "inspired" in anyway, most nobles (especially in western europe) were given far better training and equipment than the rest of the troops, making them more than capable of beating normal warriors. Assuming Stannis hasn't been slacking off he should be at least moderately skilled and possessing better equipment than most... hence making him a noteworthy fighter on the field.
