The captain refused, noting there is more profit in "cloves and saffron."? ADWD, Davos III think this ship is clearly has been wrecked in Sisterton. Remember, Davos was served sisters stew, spiced with saffron. Lord Godric has plenty of saffron and pepper -- he "took it off a sloe-eyed maid" from Qarth. Maybe this means little, but GRRM doesn't add this stuff in for no reason. Maybe Godric's actions are influenced by the knowledge that Dany & her dragons are planning their trip to Westeros?
