Blackfyre are Targaryen, Aegon can't be real or fake

A little history on the Blackfyres.

There once was a king named Aegon IV who liked to play around. He married his sister Naerys who was in love with their brother Aemon. Aemon also loved Naerys but, when she was denied him he joined the Kingsguard. Apparently no other woman compared so he'd rather protect Naerys than have another. Aemon became known as Aemon the Dragonknight.

Now back to Aegon the Unworthy. He had an affair with his cousin Daena (who had been married to, but never slept with, Baelor the Blessed), resulting in a bastard kid named Daemon. For a while Daena refused to admit who Daemon's father was.

Aegon also had a lot of mistresses who gave him children, including Aegor Rivers (by Barba Bracken), Brynden Rivers and his three older sisters (by Melessa Blackwood) and Sheira Seastar (by Serenei of Lys). Aegon the Randy also deflowered all three of Lord Butterwell's daughters IN ONE NIGHT. The guy had the morals of an alley cat. And most of these affairs were while he was married.

With his wife Aegon had a son, Daeron, and a daughter, Daenerys.

On his deathbed, Aegon declared all of his bastards (or at least the noble-born ones) legitimate, and bequeathed the traditional sword of Targaryen kings--Blackfyre) to Daemon, possibly as a consolation prize but of course that's not how Daemon saw the situation.

Daemon, with Blackfyre in his possession, pissed off that his brother King Daeron was going to force Daenerys (the girl he loved) to marry a Martell to seal an alliance with Dorne, and with a nasty rumor that Daeron was actually the son of Aemon the Dragonknight, claimed the throne for himself.

Rumors of illegitimacy are always swirling about royalty. And it's understandable that Daemon didn't want his beloved Daenerys to marry someone else. He probably also thought he'd make a better king than Daeron. But the number of people willing to follow Daemon in rebellion would have been substantially smaller if he hadn't had Blackfyre. He also took Blackfyre as his surname despite being legally Daemon Targaryen after Aegon the Skank legitimized him. About half of Westeros took Daemon's possession of the Targ King Sword as proof that Aegon wanted Daemon to succeed him. This despite Aegon not having a will saying as much. [even Viserys I named his daughter Rhaenrya heir in his will so that there could be no doubt as to his wishes]

So really the whole thing is Aegon's fault. If the language of the time would permit it, he'd probably be called Aegon the Horny Jerk Who Screwed Things up for Several Generations to Come, instead of the rather milder and much shorter sobriquet "the Unworthy."

If we assume that Daeron was legitimate, then Daemon had the same right to the throne that Aegor and Brynden had. Daeron was still the heir, because legitimized bastards come AFTER all trueborns in successions. So Daeron's heir if he had lacked children would have been Daenerys. THEN Daemon would be next. He doesn't get the throne by virtue of being legitimized and older than Daeron. You're legitimized now? That's great! Go to the back of the line.

After the failed Blackfyre Rebellion (at the time the only Blackfyre Rebellion), Daemon and his line (and likely all Targs who sided with him) were barred from succession. They were legally cut out! This can be done. It has been done in real life; it can be done in fiction. Then the Blackfyres tried to get the throne a couple more times. They. Lost. Every. Time. There is no Blackfyre "right" to the throne. If they take it by conquest, that's fine. In that case they will have won the throne, but they cannot not inherit it. And historically speaking, Blackfyres do not win, so it's kind of a moot point.

Now, it's interesting to note that while Robert's side won the war, and we know that Viserys was passed over (likely barred from succession, and really thank goodness!) and the throne offered to Robert, Daenerys may still have a right to the throne. She wasn't born yet, so she may not have been either passed over or barred from succession. It's possible that the council didn't know that Queen Rhaenys was pregnant and thus didn't think to bar all of Aerys' line because they figured Viserys and any of his potential kids WERE the line.

But please, please, please, I BEG YOU, stop saying Robert is king by right of conquest. He didn't conquer anything. If you must insist that Robert "won" the throne, the correct term is By Right of Arms.

And also, for those who've missed it, there is no proof that Aegon is a Blackfyre. There is a great deal of evidence in favor of "a" Blackfyre in the series, but not specifically who it will be. Aegon's chances of being Rhaegar's son are as good as his chances of not being Rhaegar's son. There's no need to treat his Blackfyre status as a fact when it's still conjecture at this point. If he does turn out to be a Blackfyre, go ahead and "I told you so" up and down the forums, but 'til then consider toning it down a bit.

the only was the blackfyres have some clain is through Daena the Defiant, who was passed over for Viserys II

Not through her either. Daemon was a legitimized bastard which still put him at the end of the line after all trueborns. And he and his heirs were still barred from succession after the failed rebellion, so it doesn't matter anyway.
