glamourweaver
Am I mistaken in making the assumption that the "Moonsingers" of Braavosi fame were of Jogos Nhai origin (perhaps corresponding their enslavement and the eventual founding of Braavos to the period [of the sea-green emperors] in which Yi Ti had trade with Valyria)? Mrs.Grumpy
Yep. Before the world book, I was really confused about Braavosi moonsingers because we already knew about moonsingers before Braavos's origin story. I was like "did you run out of names GRRM?" but now it makes sense. ->Yi Ti traded with Valyria.->Slavery is a thing in Yi Ti.->YİTish and Jogos Nhai are bitter enemies.->YiTish sold Jogos Nhai to Valyria. naseridrl
The Moonsingers really interest me. They seem to have their fingers in a few pies across Essos and they seem well respected. I know its unlikely but I'd love to hear more of them an their priestesses. I became a huge fan of the Jogos Nhai from the world book they sound much more interesting to me and culturally more intriguing than the Dothraki. AzureOwl
At the very least, theirs is a more inclusive religion, or at least not completely tied up to the nomadic lifestyle. Dothraki religion would be impossible to reconcile with a sedentary life in somewhere like Braavos.
Maester Barth
Or the slavers could have sailed around Essos. They ended up at Bear Island, so they obviously go all the way to the far North of Essos. But yeah, it seems like the slave markets of Slavers Bay seem to be the greatest melting pot on GRRTH, so the moonsingers would end up there.
