Ned Snow Posted November 22, 2014 Share Posted November 22, 2014 It's got me thinking about the Blade reboot rumors. I remember hearing Idris Elba wants the lead, that would be awesome. The Blade movie rights have been acquired by Marvel Studios. This is a problem, obviously, because Blade done the way people who liked the original want to see it won't fit into the MCU. Maybe the MCU can make it's own sort of MAX imprint for R-Rated movies, with titles like Punisher and Blade, but that doesn't seem likely. They might just keep Blade as an entirely separate property and downplay the fact that it's a Marvel title. Either way, I really would love to see another Blade in the near future, and not one that is watered down so Blade can pop in for an Avengers 4 cameo and sell toys. I get the feeling Blade and Punisher are more likely to turn up on Netflix. It depends on how "dark" the Defenders shows are going to be but having the characters on TV may provide enough leeway for them to be nastier than the Movies. I can see both characters working in a more all-ages way if need be though. Best idea would be to have an imprint that doesn't cross over with the MCU like Ned suggests.
