Jaak
How did Valyrians enforce incest on their dragons in Valyria?
Scootaloo Stark
Maybe it came naturally to them. Many animals do that. And maybe that's where the Valyrians even have it from.
Jaak
Many animals have mechanisms to promote outbreeding. They of course prefer inbreeding to not breeding, but when a choice is available, outbreeding prevails by various mechanisms.
Scootaloo Stark
There can't have been that many dragons, at least in the beginning, so they were all pretty closely related. I could imagine that when two dragonriders married, their dragons were also paired together. That would seem like something Valyrians would do, right? Also, we don't know enough about dragons. They're magical. We don't have any in our world. They're certainly different from normal animals. Maybe incest is more common for them, or, since they're magical, it may even keep them strong. Light a wight tonight
Incest is a human social concept. I doubt that dragons cared much either way, or were even aware of blood relationships.
