Honestly, I had the same thought as you about the trade, Groz, for the same reason (bordering on a loaner trade), but didn't want to hold up the deal while discussing it. But at the same time, in the event that Jace is prepared to cut Dixon and/or Prosise, the value of said player to her at that interval will be less than zero, so any trade for them, even if the player she receives has zero value to her, will be an increase in value for both sides. That having been said, I am perfectly happy holding the final clause unenforceable for the sake of league harmony. Jace - I would suggest that in the event you are prepared to cut Prosise or Dixon, you offer them to me first. I think they have long-term potential and am likely to give you something better than a sharp stick in the eye in exchange.

I watched a lot of Marvin Jones at Cal and I remain convinced he is absolutely ordinary. I think this week may be the story he bores his grandkids with for decades. The real talents that have come through Berkeley (Aaron Rodgers, DeSean Jackson, Marshawn Lynch, Tony Gonzalez, and even Jahvid Best) really stood out. Marvin, not so much. I think once he gets a bit of extra attention, he'll come back to earth hard. Last year at this point, Rishard Matthews had 258 yards and 3 TD. Jones is better than that (408 and 2 TD). But I think it is a bit too early to start carving the bust for Canton.

I thought the trade was equal in value without Ware. But I was in a rush, with my unbalanced roster and I wasn't going to let Ware get in the way of making a deal in time to start the season. Besides, if Ware is good this year, I am in for a pretty good season. Have him a lot. But yeah, wish I'd bid up Brown. Though since I spent almost nothing on WR, even with the 17 left over I would probably have lost out on a RB and RB was a bigger need for me than WR. I just didn't get Brown anywhere else and wanted to ride that train once this season.

The contracts make the difference. Gronk is one year, but Cooks is two at $9. AB is market value, so I'll make both him and Witten one year contracts. Ware is only $3 and Bridgewater $1 so I assume Race will give them long-term deals. It also gives me the space to pick up a kicker and a defense.

It should come as no surprise that I think the team name still needs work. I am perhaps the most vocal advocate for the once-ironclad rule about "Location - Name" with the locations from ASOIAF or Dunk & Egg. As it is, Analu's "Maelys Monsters" isn't in strict compliance, but it is at least in the genre. Nothing wrong with substance abuse as a theme, but I'd twist it to theme. And I must say it isn't going easily. The pyromancers refer to Wildfire as "The Substance", but don't really have a location purely associated with themselves. The warlocks of Qarth use Shade of the Morning and it is easy enough to project that to overuse. I think if you want to keep him, you pay the full fare and lock down the roster slot. The exception is only intended to limit the cost of parting ways.

I am fine with however we want to go. I also think it would be more fun/challenging and less bookkeeping if we changed the way penalties are paid. Pay the whole 1,2 or 3 years all in the first draft after the player was cut. Right now cuts barely hurt. That is closer to how it happens in the NFL.

In the books, Tyrion seriously considers procuring whores for Joffrey, but is uncertain if Joff is old enough. Show Joffrey is several years older. That D&D treat 16-17 year old Joff diffferent from Martin's 13-14 year old version is not only appropriate but essential in light of the age change (which was absolutely essential in light of US attitudes toward child characters in sexual situations). If Tyrion almost sent them to 14 year old Joff, he surely would to 17 year old. D&D are right and you are wrong. Do you really think 16 year old Joffrey should have the same attitudes as GRRM's 13 year old version? Or Margaery Tyrell???

That sounds like a really intriguing way to be introduced to the world of GRRM. Perhaps unsettling as you bounced between media, but a great way to supplement your imagined views of people and places while you read the books. I have read AGOT many, many times over the years, but the TV series changed my last re-read in terms of how I perceived a few characters - especially Ser Jorah and Viserys. I agree with you about Ros being the source of some legitimate complaints, but I would quibble with the characteristic 'random' in this context. She's TARGETING the players. Whether for Varys, Littlefinger or someone else, I cannot say. But it isn't random.
