Jon would never intervene against Daenerys on Cersei's behalf. The idea is ludicrous. I wouldn't bet against it, that's for sure. D&D make up a lot of stuff as they go along, but I'm sure GRRM has given them some key pointers. Jon being a Targaryen seems like one of those. You're not forgetting something, we all wonder that, or about Dorne in general. I recall Dorne being (very) briefly mentioned during the latter half of S7, something about them fighting among themselves, probably due to the power-vacuum after the elimination of the Martell's and Ellarias imprisonment. Regardless, I doubt we'll see much more of Dorne. Ellaria is probably still alive but imprisoned in Kings Landing, but then Edmure Tully is probably still alive and imprisoned at the Twins as well, and Arya didn't even bother releasing her uncle. They got poorly swept under the rug and I'll be annoyed if we get no closure on those fronts, especially regarding Edmure who is the last living Tully. (Ellaria is technically no one.)

We've been told over and over that the northerners don't like "southerners" (Except for people from the Riverlands and the Vale it seems. They're fine.) I really haven't given thought before about how much lingering xenophobia and racism there is in that statement. Apparently they don't like people from Essos either, not even when they're coming to save your ungrateful ass. Weirwood trees apparently makes Bran "see" better, which is why he's always hanging around in the Godswood, and why he always grabbed them whenever he could in earlier seasons. But evidently he can still see when he's chilling in his wheelchair in the Winterfell courtyard. Best not to think to much about it. And don't mix the books with the show either, they're wholly separate entities at this point.

Show-Bran probably doesn't need weirwood trees in order to see stuff. He knew all about Littlefingers treachery in Kings Landing and afaik they have no weirwood tree's there. The show does try to make a point about how he knows "everything" that has been and currently is - he's just bad at sorting out the important visions/memories from the irrelevant ones.

Bran can persuade her the same way he persuades everyone else about his omniscient powers: re-tell a quote that no one else but the person he needs to persuade (in this case, Daenerys) would know about. In her case, he could quote her lasts words to Khal Drogo before she ended his torment.

Maybe she was about to become 15 at the end of S3? (More likely, the writers made a bobo.) The timeline is a mess for sure, but the only source I can find that's somewhat consistent says that a season is a year, roughly. With that said, I don't expect S8 to last for an entire year - unless they make some insane timejump between episode 5 and 6.

He is. It's a poor job from the (I assume) casting director.

@legba11 The time-line is pretty clear though, even if it doesn't always make sense due to all the time-jumps. A season is roughly a year. Arya was 11 in season 1, and is now 18 in season 8. I can fully buy that some people are used to Arya being a young tomboy and have this mental image of her in their heads. They got a rude (but needed) awakening in this episode.

And last episode two adult northerners stared at them with cold indifference. The showrunners have made an excellent job of portraying the northerners as xenophobic, racist assholes. They also pride themselves with their motto "the north remembers", which probably got lost in translation somewhere, because in the last couple of seasons, "the north forgets" or "the north never remembers" would've been appropriate. Ah well, if Eddison Tollet and Tormund is to be believed, every northman not currently at Winterfell is dead and turned at this point. I'm almost tempted to say good riddance...

Funny that so many are reluctant, almost disgusted at seeing part of Maisie Williams naked in this episode. I would like to point out that Maisie was probably 21 when this was filmed. I would also like to point out that Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, more known as "Tyene Sand", was 19 when she flashed her tits in Season 5. Food for thought.

Honestly, Jon's world-view is also pretty shattered at this point. Two dragonriders in the biggest battle this series has ever seen, both with recently shattered world-views? This is gonna be good. *Grabs popcorn*

Hah, yeah he probably wanted to, but a "Not now please, I'm contemplating in preparation for the battle" would've sufficed. Or he could've simply stopped talking after answering her initial question about who rested there (Lyanna Stark). Instead he had to keep talking and basically shatter her world-view 30 seconds before the AotD attacks. Good job Jon!

I liked it overall, lots of heartwarming moments and some more reunions. It was however, also quite slow paced. I was more forgiving for episode 1 being slow, since the first episode in every season always is. So with that said, I did expect ...more. This episode felt like an extension of episode 1, not an episode in it's own right. From a narrative perspective, almost nothing really happened, and now we only got 4 episodes left instead of 5. So I'm giving it a 6, which is less than I gave episode 1.

This episode was excellent, and it really did feel like a last hurrah for some of the characters. An episode of quiet contemplation, more reunions, reflection and friendly banter, before the shit hits the fan. As for Jon and Daenerys, to quote a very good movie-villain: "Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen it." I expected Jon to react with a when he heard about his lineage, and he did. I expected Jon to silently pull away (momentarily) from Daenerys after hearing this, and he did. I expected Daenerys to initially react with a when she heard about Jons lineage and she did. I did not expect Jon to break the news at the worst possible moment however, but it's a classic Jon-move. Now we just need them both to survive the next episode, have a huge argument, only for Daenerys to notice that she's pregnant. Targ-wedding in episode 5?

7/10. As far as season-starters go, it was good. Some of the reunions where a bit underwhelming (Arya/Sandor, Sansa/Tyrion), and some didn't occur at all (Sansa/Sandor), but overall I'm pleased with it. I'm also glad that the show progressed rapidly and several major points was, if not resolved, then at least brought up: They know that the NK has Viserion and has broken trough the wall, Jon knows about his parentage and Jon has formed a bond with Rhaegal. Slightly annoyed that the episode only was what, 54 minutes? So much for "fewer but longer episodes"...

@Error-504 Just a heads up. Krishtotter compared Daenerys to, among others, Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao Zedong in a different thread. When Called out on it, he instead quoted half an essay on why Daenerys is like Robespierre. Don't bother. Some people will never see eye to eye, so it's best to just move on.

Afaik it's a Children of the Forest-sign, so way older than the Targaryens sigil. We saw it (among others) in the caves beneath Dragonstone last season. Why they White Walkers use it over and over we can only speculate on. To spite the CotF? Because the CotF use it? (the WW are a CotF-weapon gone haywire after all) As some sort of magical nexus? Hopefully the show will give us an answer before it's over and not just sweep it under the rug.

Perhaps she's refering to Young Griff who's clearly not the real Aegon? (If he was he wouldn't had been cut from the TV-show)
