  1. @The Wondering Wolf How long do you think a generation should be? Because thirty is roughly how long it would take to grow up, get married, and have children in the Middle Ages if you weren't a noble.
  2. The Redgrass Field page should list there being 10K casualties in the table itself
  3. The battles in the Dance of the Dragons need to have their army numbers updated. 1) The Red Fork should list the Lannisters as having 1K knights and 7K crossbowmen + men-at-arms, which means Lords Piper and Vance had less than that and that the Lannisters had less than 8K at Acorn Hall as well as the Fishfeed 2) Depending on how many casualties Borros took subduing KL as well as the rest of the Crownlands the Stormlands' strength at the Kingsroad should read "less than 4K foot and 600 knights" 3) In the lead-up to First Tumbleton Munkun's account states that the Hightower army was 20K strong and that a tenth of that (2K) were knights (Incidentally, this means that the Greens had less than 20K at Second Tumbleton) 4) The Greens marched out of KL with around 500+ men (500 household knights and an unknown number of sellswords if my memory serves) but after adding the strength of Rosby as well as Stokeworth and sacking Duskendale the Greens' strength at Rook's Rest was roughly 4K (Incidentally, the "Fall of Rosby" and "Fall of Stokeworth" pages need to be removed because F & B V1 reveals that, contrary to TWOIAF's wording, there were actually no battles or sieges at either castle) 5) The short, sharp battle at the Gods Eye between Ser Criston Cole's vanguard and Houses Wode, Roote, and Darry should maybe have its own page (Same for Borros subduing the Crownlands, the Sack of Lannisport, the Fall of Fair Isle, and the Capture/Siege of Kayce (I don't think @Ran ever addressed that particular discrepancy between TWOIAF and F & B V1))
  4. @The Wondering Wolf That would make House Connington even younger but you could be right.
  5. In "The Griffin Reborn" JonCon says that fifty generations of his family have sat and ruled from the Griffin's Seat. If we take a generation to mean thirty years that would mean House Connington is at least 1500 years old, correct?
  6. @Lord Patrek It depends. No traditional publisher would be interested in my anthology so self-publishing is the only way for me to go. Furthermore, in my case, its about the personal sense of achievement and fulfillment (as naive as that may sound). If the book can make a positive difference in even one person's day that'll be good enough for me.
  7. @Centrist Simon Steele I know you didn't ask me specifically but here are mine: Version 1: https://artistsnclients.com/uploads/5jo/jobs/641611_Ebook%20cover%201.png?0 Version 2: https://artistsnclients.com/uploads/5jo/jobs/642273_Ebook%20cover%20back.png?0
  8. Turned 27 today so here's an update on my book: 1) For a few reasons I have to push back the release date (Goal is now September) 2) Proofread 8/13 stories (Last round of editing just to be clear) 3) Wrote a fourth Mistland vignette titled "Love & Hate" (173 words, 1/2 page) 4) The final piece of artwork is complete (Can share if y'all are interested) 5) Wrote a back cover blurb (Can share if y'all are interested)
  9. Done proofreading (for the last time) 6/13 short stories. On the other hand, summer classes are heating up and I've run into a dumb but frustrating problem. Sigh.
  10. I'd say the first, third, or eighth. Out of those, the third.
  11. Thanks for the feedback ya'll. Number 1 it is.
  12. Thanks. Figuring that stuff out right now. Got a hold of my original cover artist, who agreed to change the pseudonyms on the front cover to our real names. They also agreed to turn the original back cover into a second front cover. Was thinking of using the first for the digital version and the second for the print-on-demand version if that ever ends up happening but my editor, rightfully, pointed out that might confuse potential customers into thinking one version's fake so now I need to decide between the two. Version 1: https://artistsnclients.com/uploads/5jo/jobs/641611_Ebook%20cover%201.png?0 Version 2: https://artistsnclients.com/uploads/5jo/jobs/642273_Ebook%20cover%20back.png?0 Any preferences?
  13. The front cover I commissioned lists me and my co-authors by pseudonym (Duck, Spoon, and Friends) but I'm pretty sure that's not how my co-authors want to be listed inside the book, especially when it comes to copyrights, so I was wondering if changing that part of the front cover to my actual name plus "and others" would work instead. Also, the reason I'm so worked up is more because I tend to overthink and obsess about stuff when I get stressed or excited. (Exams don't help sadly.)
  14. In that case, I'll see if the original artist is willing to make a change so long after the fact. Do you think if I list my name followed by "and others" (because its an anthology featuring five writers, including myself) that would be acceptable?
  15. Thank you so much! Another question if you don't mind: On the front cover I listed me and my co-authors under pseudonyms for a few reasons (space, sound more pulpy, our real names are on the back cover I'd also commissioned) but in the book itself (including copyrights), was planning to just use our real names. Would that cause problems?
  16. @Lin Meili @Gigei Did y'all upload your stuff directly through Amazon or link to it from elsewhere? (Now that major edits are done I have to start thinking about everything else, including formatting and distribution. Honestly have never felt so tired and depressed.)
  17. 1) Kyle’s short story set in Mistland, Sun Tiger, is complete! Word count: 3830. Page count: 13. Total page count: 159 pages (excluding artwork, title page, table of contents, etc.) Number of complete short stories: 13/13 2) Received all 5 of the headshot sketches! 3) Tentative schedule is as follows: June 10-20 (One last round of proofreading with my editor and deciding on the order of the stories) June 21-28 (Add the title page, table of contents, etc.) June 29 (Upload a test run and fix any errors that show up) June 30 (Publish!) 4) After talking with one of my co-authors I’ve decided to make “Tales from Mistland & Other Oddities” available for purchase digitally as well as print-on-demand. (Still need to work out the specifics though.)
  18. Thanks. I guess the book as a whole would be copywritten under my name and the individual stories under that of their respective authors even if they take place in Mistland? (There's no equivalent of the Wild Cards Trust what with this being my first attempt at self-publishing so I'm honestly paranoid about getting tripped up on legal minutiae.)
  19. Can you send me a screenshot by any chance?
  20. Does anyone know how to word the copyrights page for an anthology of self-published short stories when some of them are in a shared setting created by one person mainly?
  21. Major update for my upcoming book! 1) Spoon and Felix's short stories are complete! Final results are as follows: “Autumn Eternal” (1826 words, 5 pages) “Thursday Off” (3100 words, 8 pages) “The Hound of Ashmire” (1525 words, 5 pages) “Scotland’s Heir” (11033 words, 36 pages) Total page count: 146 pages Number of complete short stories: 12/13 2) Decided how many poems to include as bonus content. They are as follows: ”A Tribute to Emily Dickinson” (by yours truly) “Jobs” (by Spoon) Total number of poems: 2 3) The additional artwork will consist of 5 headshot sketches and 2 symbols Total number of artwork: 17 (including bonus content) Tentative release date: June 2021
