  1. As one of the resident Norwegians here, and as a heavy user of trains (I have never had a driver's lisence), let me tell you that our train system is extremely inefficient and will compare poorly to just about any European provider. I've only taken a train in the UK once (Cambridge - Southampton and back), and I didn't have issues on that trip. I do know that my local train is delayed as a matter of priciple, and the regional train (Stavanger - Oslo) has a 1 in 3 chance of being late. Also, it takes 49 minutes longer than what it did 20 years ago. /derail
  2. Typical. Still, if he'd been competent, we'd won. Instead, we were Dyched by Moyes.
  3. Beto is a hardworking striker. Strong. Decent hold-up player. But man, is his finishing sh*t. Straight at the keeper one-on-one, and then he misses a penalty. If we can get about what we gave for him in the summer, I'd say send him straight out again.
  4. This game is just to show you can't give City (and Haaland) space behind the defense to use. Credit to Luton for having a go. It didn't go well. ETA: seems I may have spoken sooner than I should. Also, Ross, whyever did you leave us?
  5. Yeah, think it's meant to be a penultimate book. And, given that the series is *good*, it'd be a shame to rush the ending.
  6. Wonder what his reasoning is? "Well, he was an assistant with our local rivals, and he's now doing a great job at a club he played for - so it makes sense he'll join United"?
  7. Tbf, she was always likely to beat or equal Rothfuss. Every person writing something will beat or equal him.
  8. Considering how utterly mediocre he was at Brighton and lost at sea at Everton, it seems Maupay is a system player. He thrives in Brentford's system, and suddenly his finishing is Not Shit.
  9. So we're safe for now. Until the next breach. But we're above Forest, so even if we lose more points, I guess we'll still have that ... maybe. Who knows? Process is clear as a Trump statement.
  10. Weird that Chelsea didn't keep up the pace from the end of the match, considering the youthfulness of the Liverpool team. But Liverpool trust their system and manager, while Chelsea don't really trust anything much, and that does mean something.
  11. Wonder how the match would look if the pitch was great, rather than ... what it seems today. Not terrible, but not very good either.
  12. Think the call is offside, not foul? Endo was offside when the free kick came in, and was involved in the play by blocking an opposing player?
  13. Not read the whole thing yet, but I'm not surprised that Trump's allies thinks in Mob Terminology
  14. All of this sort of ties into one of my biggest problems with capitalism, or more spesifically in this instance, the role media plays. Used to be media would make attempts to tell the truth, to the best of their abilities. Now, they're to a much greater degree, delivering services and need to compete in a marketplace. So instead of looking for truth, they're selling a product and have to stay relevant to their customers. And therefore they can't tell stories as they know or believe them to be true, because they have an audience to reach. Internet hasn't helped at all, since greater access means people choose their preferred truth rather than challenging their beliefs. Mostly a side note, this.
  15. That said, Morgan Freeman as Regis would be a perfect cast. Some years ago.
  16. Well, the second game of the day is possibly more even..
  17. West Ham should have bought this Rice dude. Younger version with better pace.
  18. Guys, I think Arsenal is going to win this one. Going out on a limb here.
  19. Considered a double punishment given the penalty. Had it been outside the 16-yard box, it would have been.
  20. Arsenal being strong on set pieces reminds me of the Graham years. As it happens, that's about the only similarity between this team and George Graham's team. The other possible similarity is that they do win a lot.
  21. Indeed. Just a surprise that so few of his followers (including those in media / power) don't comment on the fundamental inconsistency in his ideology, which will make the US weaker through creating stronger rivals. I'd also guess that this inconsistency would surprise his followers, and it would be something they'd oppose. Though, given they seem to regard him as a prophet, they'd probably write off anyone pointing this out to them. For those mentioned in the first paragraph, this makes for an uncomfortable situation in which they make themselves weaker in what seems to be a desperate hope to stay relevant or in a position of relative power. Working hard against themselves, as it is.
