  1. I was largely consigned to the depressing result of Cuomo cruising to victory, but Mamdani is surging in the polls - PPP even just had him slightly leading. The primary is a week from Tuesday (the 24th), and early voting starts on Saturday. Hopefully AOC's endorsement puts him over the top.
  2. The presser was in LA. The “officers” should be prosecuted for assault and false arrest. The Los Angeles DA is Nathan Hochman. He won as an Independent last year. He was a Republican until 2023.
  3. Put your dick back in your pants.
  4. ...I didn't say it was an act. Are you saying I am? You're making personal assumptions about me that - if I leveled at you - you'd get pissed about too. So, take it to PM if you have such a problem with my argumentation. It's not something that should be dealt with on this thread.
  5. Ha! Me being condescending and a dick has no correlation to how drunk I am. Literally, you have no idea. It has to do with you being condescending and a dick too. You're never gonna realize that, so keep on acting all superior. Um, I can say US oil production lowering this year has very little if anything to do with the Trump administration - it was just fun to make fun of him about it. Indeed, I did, and there was no disagreement on that account.
  6. When it comes to things independent of the Trump administration, those that want to base their judgment on empirical facts instead of petty animus.
  7. I'd go back to the "why" question of why you think I give a shit what the Trump administration is doing as if it's indicative of anything beyond them trying to carry out their horrific policies? I'm not worried about US oil production, and no one in their right mind should be either. Pointing out Canada has more reserves - great! Good for you little buddy!
  8. I hate to tell you this but that's not how proven reserves work. For anything. Putting it as a constant in any equation is not "basic math," it's wrong math. I also wouldn't site CNBC as expertise on anything. Further, energy production in the US goes well beyond petroleum reserves, obviously.
  9. I like how the Canadians on this board are so anti-US they can't look up basic facts. Proven oil reserves, the US is ranked ninth. And that's after tapping into their reserves at a very increased rate. Due to shale oil reserves, they also are fine on longterm potential. I honestly don't really care and ideally would rather have the US be in some type of oil production crisis. But the fact is they're not and anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves.
  10. Well, I guess goodbye and good luck to Ty. I'd say we hardly knew ye, but...we did. I just wasn't wasn't aware flights to Hotel California were only available early in the morning. Sounds like Ty can check out any time he likes, but he can never leave...
  11. Right. Honestly this isn't something I would or should criticize. It's cuz the prices went down, which is of course a good thing. But I'll be damned if I'm not going to take an opportunity to make fun of Trump. Especially when his bullshit "promise" was ignoring the fact Biden was incredibly and even historically successful on exactly what he was trying to promise. LOL, no. In terms of proven and potential oil reserves, the US is doing just fine. This is silly and wrong.
  12. Beyond MAGNETS YO, which of course are crucial, there also was this news yesterday - US oil output set for first annual drop since pandemic: I mean, this isn't even something the left would be mad about - lower oil production. But it's the exact opposite of what Trump promised. For all his complaining about Biden - and even excepting all his authoritarian actions - Trump has just sucked. He has a special power where everything he touches turns to shit:
  13. Trump's bullshit aside, DO NOT underestimate the power of magnets:
  14. Point taken, but the most fundamental and nonemotional argument against deporting all documented immigrants (beyond the cost of doing so) has always been taking ~8 million people - or about 5 percent total - out of the workforce. Women represent about 40 percent of the lawyers in the US at this point. Moreover, more women than men have been graduating law school for quite some time. OTOH, instead of being lawyers they'd have to get real jobs. So there's always a silver lining.
  15. In terms of pre-political career, it's hard to beat. A lieutenant in the Navy that graduated from flight school with the first class of women eligible for combat. A litigator and an AUSA. And also has an MS from the London School of Economics. That's..uniquely well-rounded.
  16. Meh, seems like overthinking. Pretty sure it's another scalp claimed by MAGA and offered up by the feckless media.
  17. So on Saturday we got Trump's super-fascist birthday bash. We got protest sentiment palpable throughout the country. Throw in AI continuing to emerge, and is anyone else getting end of Days of Future Past vibes? When Magneto lands RFK Stadium on the White House lawn?
  18. Mikie Sherrill won the Dem primary for governor of New Jersey tonight. Looks like it’ll be by a very comfortable margin. She’s a very impressive candidate and should be a promising governor. The last twenty years haven’t been great there - two dudes from Goldman Sachs and Chris Christie. Right before that was Jim McGreevey which..well, look it up if you don’t know.
  19. Yeah I and and others said that a few posts ago. My point about the "probe" aspect is that is Trump often does, especially during his first term. Test the waters to see how far he can go before even his own side starts being like, nah. This ain't that. Indeed, it's important to point out that difference in this specific aspect. During the Floyd protests, Trump wanted to use the military, but was talked down by Esper. And, let's face it, he was probably more just simply worried about reelection at the time. He's been very clear - including today - that he will no longer abide by such restraints.
