  1. If you rated this episode a 1 u r a troll.
  2. I'm glad that the show has gone a different direction from the books -- can anyone imagine Tyrion still randomly putzing around in Essos? Terrible literature, good tv.
  3. You are confused about the difference between "siding with" the wildlings and "surrendering" to them. Surrendering, to emphasize, after they just saw Wun Wun shrug off a crossbow bolt and then with one swipe grab the shooter & smash him against a wall. Besides, both in the show (which is relevant to this discussion) but also in the books the NW hasn't been acting heroically or principled lately -- they've mutinied & murdered their last two Lord Commanders. As an aside: do you either watch the show or read the books? It seems you do neither.
  4. You dropped the context -- if half of whom were likely outraged by Jon's murder there is no FRIKING WAY they are fighting giants for Thorne.
  5. The show is proving that the books, as they are, are truly unfilmable. Can anyone imagine if the show tried to keep the Aegon storyline, or Tyrion's utterly pointless meandering through Essos, or the near-total absence of Sansa for the last 16 years (No Sansa for nearly three seasons, imagine that.)
  6. Lol, 15 million people like the HBO series but *you* don't, so 15 million people have bad taste. Regardless: I take it after the dreck that was Dance with Dragons you must feel the same about the book series.
  7. +1. And, GRRM will have left us hangin' for 5 years by the time WoW is published. Maybe more, who knows with the guy, I think he's pretty bored with the whole series.
  8. Anyone not realizing that Stannis was willing & capable of doing this hasn't been watching the show.
  9. Those claiming that Sansa was raped have not provided any rationale for it, other than expressing a sense of outrage or offensiveness. A harrumph isn't a reasoned argument. (Btw, those arguing it wasn't rape have, several times, patiently argued why it wasn't. Those arguments have been met with more harrumphs.) Moreover: Sophie Turner was fine with portraying the scene. If the scene was as "offensive" as claimed then Turner herself would have objected. Unless the claim is that Turner is a fool, is delusional, or is some sort of rape-apologist. And if you're making *that* argument, then there isn't any reasoning with you at all.
  10. An 8.367094. Thank the Seven the show has happily jettisoned the dreck that is the "Across the Narrow Sea" portion of A Dance with Dragons. I can't imagine what introducing Aegon & co. at this point would mean. A cast of thousands! None of whom get screen time. None of whom any viewer could possibly take an interest in. Good riddance. Also glad the show is (apparently) soft-pedaling the whole Sand Snakes plot-line. Seeing those 90 lb little girls whirl spears and swords... to view it is just as silly as it reads. I'd believe in the reality of dragons and ice demons first. To paraphrase a horrified Jerry who learns Kramer is taking a karate class with 10 year olds: "You don't need to know any moves, just wring their neck!"
  11. I consider myself a "Stan Fan," I suppose because bookStannis is one of the very few major characters that has a genuine sense of dignity, justice, and honor. And, I think that it has to be admitted, even if one isn't a Stan Fan, that D&D have intentionally butchered the character, and for the lamest of reasons: that in order for the show to be "edgy" everyone has to be scummy/insane/murderous/immoral. So, we live in a cynical age, and I suppose our entertainment will be cynical as well. But, it also has to be admitted that the episode last night was well-done -- not perfect, the books aren't perfect and neither is the show, but extremely well-done. The ending was a little jarring, with Jon walking off into the North, but it was some of the best action tv that has ever been done in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.
  12. +10 True, Sam didn't get a 12-page sexual contract signed by Gilly, with 4 witnesses and a probate judge, giving Sam all permissions, authorizations, endorsements, and both implied and express consent to give her a soft smooch on the lips. Same trap Jaime fell into.
  13. I wonder what Bran would make of *that*? Is he seeing his mother in his vision as an actual undead thingy, or is he seeing her in his vision not as an actual undead thingy but in a form that is symbolic of something else? And, how could he tell the difference?
