  1. For those houses that are mentioned at bitterbridge i suggest you leave them in the sumup but make a note that they are not mentioned at the battle but likley to have been there because of them being present at bitterbridge.
  2. actually it describes the sailed ships as carracks and cogs which is the same as the ships he describes in the lannister fleet showing clearly that GRRM does consider these types of ships to be warships. I will give you the quotes: from ACOK Fury herself would center the first line of battle, flanked by the Lord Steffon and the Stag of the Sea, each of two hundred oars. On the port and starboard wings were the hundreds: Lady Harra, Brightfish, Laughing Lord, Sea Demon, Horned Honor, Ragged Jenna, Trident Three, Swift Sword, Princess Rhaenys, Dog's Nose, Sceptre, Faithful, Red Raven, Queen Alysanne, Cat, Courageous, and Dragonsbane. From every stern streamed the fiery heart of the Lord of Light, red and yellow and orange. Behind Davos and his sons came another line of hundreds commanded by knights and lordly captains, and then the smaller, slower Myrish contingent, none dipping more than eighty oars. Farther back would come the sailed ships, carracks and lumbering great cogs, and last of all Salladhor Saan in his proud Valyrian, a towering three-hundred, paced by the rest of his galleys with their distinctive striped hulls. from the SSM For what it's worth, however, their ships would be larger and more formidable than the longships of the ironmen -- cogs, carracks, and war galleys of various sides, up to the great dromonds with scorpions and catapults on deck. But i leave it up to you to decide if you want to change it to sailed warships or just leave it as sailed ships. Thanks for the change you already made.
  3. Whel its the wording really, it suggests that these sailed ships are not warships so simply changing sailed ships to sailed warships and adding a link in the references to the so spake martin about these ships being warships should do. the link to the articell: http://www.westeros.org/Citadel/SSM/Entry/1049 unfortunatly we don't know if they belonged to the Royal Fleet or to the Narrow Sea Lords probably a bit of both so the part saying there are 51 royal war galleys and 9 from the Lords of the Narrow sea should really be 60 war galleys ommithing the Royal part since that is not certain and a lot more of these galleys could be from the Narrow Sea Lords.
  4. There is in the articel about the battle of the Blackwater something that bothers me, in the box that describes the strengths is a breakdown of stannis his fleet: Fleet: ~200 ships:[N 2] ~51 royal war galleys[N 3] ~9 war galleys from the lords of the Narrow Sea[N 4] Myrish sellsails[2][N 5] sailed ships, carracks and lumbering great cogs[3] 25 Lysene pirate galleys[N 6] This breakdown seems to asume that the sailed ships are not warships and not part of the royal fleet or the ships that are provided by the Lords of the Narrow Sea. However GRRM does seem to consider these types of ships to be warships as evidenced by this articel from the "So spake Martin" archive: The Lannister Fleet Submitted By: Kay-Arne Hansen Mr. Martin, we found it peculiar that Tyrion considered the importance of the Greyjoy fleet in aCoK (when Balon's message reached him in KL), since he never thinks about the West's own naval strength and it's usefulness against the Starks. So we began to doubt said strength. Did Tywin ever rebuild the Lannister fleet, after Euron burned it eight years ago? And if he rebuilt it, did he ever appoint a permanent commander of this fleet? Yes, Lord Tywin certainly replaced the ships that were lost. However, as far as naval power goes, the only fleets comparable to that of the Greyjoys are the royal fleet (most of it destroyed on the Blackwater) and the Redwyne fleet, based on the Arbor. Besides the king, the Greyjoys and Redwynes are the traditional sea powers of Westeros. The lords whose lands abut the coast of the Sunset Sea all keep a war galley or three about for coastal defense, and of course those shores are home to scads of fishing boats as well. The Lannisters have a larger and much grander fleet, but we're still only talking about twenty to thirty ships, perhaps. To fight a major battle, they would call the ships of their various bannermen, just as Stannis summoned the lords of the narrow sea for the battle on the Blackwater. For what it's worth, however, their ships would be larger and more formidable than the longships of the ironmen -- cogs, carracks, and war galleys of various sides, up to the great dromonds with scorpions and catapults on deck. The Tyrells are in more or less the same position as the Lannisters, though they depend even more on their bannermen, especially the lords of the Shield Islands off the mouth of the Mander. The Hightowers have only a few warships, but control Oldtown, home to numerous trading vessels. Submitted by Kay-Arne Hansen September 24, 1999 Since this is in 1999 and clash of kings was publiced in 1998 i do think this info aplies to stannis his fleet aswell, and that means the sailed ships are warships, which would greatly increase the number of ships provided by the Lords of the Narrow Sea. I personnaly think the breakdown should reflect this information and if you guys agree i would like to ask someone with acces to change they info or ad at least a reference to this info so people know of this possibility.
  5. I think the problem you are running into is that you think the numbers should make sence when perhaps George never gave it much thought and just put down numbers he thought would be a good fit for the story.
  6. If i remember correctly in the unedited version that was leaked/read i don't remember wich one it was, Tywin was joined by vassal houses there troops on the march to Tarbeck hall. As far as i know he had 3500 men when he left Casterly Rock and the vassal troops pushed it to about 6000. As to your sidenote on New Ghis, a legion is 6000 men as far as i know this is a confirmed number, so 6 legions is 36000 men there is just no two ways about it. there have been discussions about this number before since it does not seem to make sence in light of the size of the island New Ghis is on and most of these ended with the conclusion that they also must control the land around the ruined city of Old Ghis aswell to get these numbers.
  7. Dear moderator you recently posted this (see below) in a tread and it was adressed (in part) to me.

[mod] The Actual King of the Thread is speaking and he says to stick to the topic of the thread as outlined in the OP. That's common courtesy, and we expect everyone on this forum to abide by it. If you want to discuss something else, start a new thread. Further off-topic posts will be nuked from orbit. Thank you. [/mod]

However i am wondering where you were on the 1000 other treads where this occured and no moderator ever showed up.

For this is the reason i addresed the OP as i did sinche no one ever made this much of a problem of side-questions before.

Now i will follow your instructions sinche i believe very strongly in following the rules, but i would like to suggest you enforce them a little bit more/beter if you really want to prevent these things from happening.

Just a sincere tip from a otherwise very content user of this forum.

Keep up the good work on keeping the forum up and best regards

  8. The World of Ice and Fire - The Targaryen Kings: Aegon II The other king was curiouser still—a child who became known as Gaemon Palehair. The son of a whore, this four-year-old boy was claimed to be a bastard of Aegon II (which was not improbable, given the king's bawdy ways in his youth). From his seat in the House of Kisses atop Visenya's Hill, he gathered followers by the thousands and issued a series of edicts. His mother later was hanged, having confessed he was the son of a silverhaired oarsman from Lys, but Gaemon was spared and taken into the king's household. In time he befriended Aegon III, becoming his constant companion and food taster for some years, before dying of poison that might have been intended for the king himself.
  9. Unless the image was created by Amok to whom the portrets used belong copyright should not be an isseu, so if you can change it i would go ahead and do that.
  10. Jar Joq was the seventh Sea-green Emperor and yes it should be Great Moraq the g is a missspelling and it was conquered not colonised.
  11. I agree but i would make it clear on the page that its a claim and he might be an imposter which is not very clear right now from they info.
  12. The Moon is actually a licensed coin at the shire post mint that make the coins you can buy so it is a GRRM approved coin, for now green ronin provides one of the few semi-canon source for what each coin is worth so until we get info in the books i would keep it up. http://www.shirepost.com/wp/#!/Tommen-II-Lannister-Silver-Moon/p/43448020/category=11090111 In this link you can also read in the description of the official coin that: In Westeros, a moon is a lot of money, equivalent to seven silver stags. 30 moons are equivalent to one gold dragon. which is the same info as green ronin so i think they info is farley correct.
  13. Its not bad but certainly not the best i have seen, it sort of misses the inhumane beauty she is suppose to have.
  14. Okay atleast now its clear that it is in they app, so should this then not also be put one the wiki?
  15. Thanks for checking, as i said i do not have they app myself so i asked the guy who told me to name the entry but he as not answered unfortunately.
  16. I would go for Magali because she was involved in official asiof projects and is actually the featured artist on GRRM own site right now. So she would probably come closest to what GRRM himself imagined.
  17. I do not have they app (not available in my country) it came up in a discussion on the forum and the person was adamant that it said this in they app, this is why i asked since i could not check myself and could not find they information anywhere else. Can i assume from your answer that it does not say this on they app and that the person who told me was mistaken?
  18. I did not know where else to ask this but apparently they app says euron got his dragonhorn from the warlocks he captured, this is not mentioned in the wiki and i was wondering how reliable this is? and if it is reliable then should it not also be on the wiki? @aRanycsapat
  19. hence the word "also" its not the only explanation its a possible explanantion. But personnaly i don't think not having heard of one before means the Targaryen's did not have one at some point in there history.
  20. The Targaryen's not having Valyrian steel armor can also be expained by them selling it in the years after the doom, most of the Valyrian steel swords in westeros where obtained some 400 years ago thats right after the doom. they might have had the armor reforged into swords and sold it in order to apease ther new neighbors, since 4 of the 5 dragons they had with them died and they had to wait for the two new ones to mature.
  21. I can see the correct version on the house Edgerton page. As i said what you have to do is go to the page and then refresh it while your on the page itself, it has something to do with a shortcut your computer takes when going to a page it has been to before. Apparently it loads the page from memory and saved cookies instead of loading it from scratch.
  22. @Rhaenys_Targaryen found out how to fix it apparently when you go to a page you have been to before it shows you the page as it looked like when you last visited, when i refreshed the page while i was actually on it it changed to the latest version. Perhaps this is more of a browser than site issue i use firefox, so it may be a firefox problem and not a wiki problem.
  23. @Rhaenys_Targaryen that could be it when i look at latest changes made to the image i actually see a last changed 2013 so i guess i cant see the change you made yet.
  24. I still see they old one, but when i click on the picture then i see the correct one so it seems the site displays it mirrored from what you uploaded. click on original file then you get to see the correct one as well again it seems that it is being displayed mirrored.
