For examples, Cersei recalls that Lyanna was thought to be a wild beauty or Jaime recalls that Aerys must have thought himself to be invincible. Someone remembers a thought that he/she had some time of unspecified length ago. The scene in which the thought occured originally isn't life on page, just the memory of it.
