You would have seen better from Marsh if he had truly been Jon's enemy. Then he'd have schemed up something better that'd allow him to come out as the 'winner.' The stabbers aren't trying to win here. They're trying to avoid total disgrace. They're not sure that they want to live on with the memory of how things brought them to this pass.
