Cersei has been doing it from years and as we see in ASOIAF she ain't that good, Jaime is at fault for being the weak one and following after his sister's vagina.He loved her. Emotional manipulation isn't rational. They have you so in love with them that you can't see clearly. All you want to do is please them. It's not something Jaime could have just "known better" for. It's a relationship he's been in since birth, with a person who was always dangling a carrot in his face, tempting him. It's pretty clear Jaime couldn't have just known better since he doesn't realize the person he's loved his whole life is poison until his mid thirties.
