Gaston de Foix
This thread is devoted to the Star Wars Holiday Special which I am liveblogging at Wilbur's request. I'm watching it on Youtube (weirdly Disney+ doesn't have a copy). I've read the first two lines of the wikipedia entry to check when it was set(between ESR and RotJ). Gaston de Foix
And it starts off by explaining that the Incredible Hulk will not be presented this evening. That's a pity because a cross-over would have been fun.
Gaston de Foix
The quality is not... great. Not a deal breaker for me, but just curious: is the discrepancy so noticeable because I watched remastered versions of all the other movies on Disney+? Also the movie starts off with Hans and Chewie in the Millenium Falcon being chased. Some things never change.
Gaston de Foix
Really struggling to understand Chewie without subtitles.

Gaston de Foix
Sponsored by General Motors, it's Life Day (Christmas) in the Bacca household.
Gaston de Foix
Things not working out for Lumpy. But he lives in the coolest tree-house imaginable.

Gaston de Foix
Itchy is consoling Mala. But where are her parents? Wookies shouldn't have gendered stereotypes.
Gaston de Foix
Btw it appears there is a Lego Star Wars Holiday Special on Disney+. But wikipedia says the reception for the original was extremely negative. Does not compute.

Gaston de Foix
Wookies were way more advanced in 1978 than we are today. They had 3d holograms and we have to make do with moving images on a black screen.
Gaston de Foix
Some kind of theatrical performance has started. Mala is entranced but that may just be because she's seeing clothes for the first time.
Gaston de Foix
Oh wait that wasn't Malla but Lumpy. Camera was zoomed in. Makes more sense. Is it terribly speciest of me that I struggle to tell Wookies apart?
Gaston de Foix
Malla and Lumpy searching for Chewie, but not luck so far. But wait what's this?
Gaston de Foix
After seeing Mark Hamill in the most recent movies it's a bit of a shock to see how handsome he was as a teen.
Gaston de Foix
Lumpy gets sent to his room. Glad to see Luke has picked up a bit of Wookie on his travels and can interpret for us.

Maithanet
I only saw SW HS once and I think it was also on Youtube. It was not good. Parts of it were sufficiently bizzarre or lighthearted to be somewhat enjoyable. Other parts were bad without being fun. Harrison Ford was phoning it in as hard as an actor can. Gaston de Foix
The pocket size aquarium is very nice. And some coded conversation about "shaggy carpet" ensues.
