Ran's summary is very useful and right on target.

I would add that the composite view of Dragaera formed in the reader's mind becomes quite lush by the time he or she catches up to the most recent book.

Brust has written the books in such a way that the elements of worldbuilding that might be just throw-away background noise end up being important touchpoints later on, or else emerge as clear results of the development of the culture and worldview that were laid down in the Khaavren romances five centuries earlier.
