Since Ben Barnes seems to be busy shooting Narnia, I gotta second Harry Lloyd as Jon Snow.
He definitely has the looks...perhaps even more so than Ben Barnes.

Just look at this picture.

Plus she is awesome on Big Love.

Guess I posted in the Wrong Place..Srry.

Tom Selleck= Ned Stark

http://monsieurf.typepad.com/photos/uncate...selleck_4_3.jpg

You can see the hidden past.

Might Be getting long in the tooth for Ned, maybe..but he would definitely set the tone for the entire series. Nobility. Also give the Series Credentials.

And he does tv.

I know that there is a no discussion rule so I don't want to catalyze a debate here.

So I'm risking being punished that I might reinforce my suggestion of Tahmoh Penikett. Ned is supposed to be 35ish right? Tahmoh is 33. How bad is that...really...come on...
Plus he's fresh off of Battlestar Galactica, that is a very strong audience right there.

Thanks

How about Keri Russel for Caetlyn Stark? She's recognizable and therefore brings credibility, and she's good. She might have jobs already, but Caetlyn is important, and has the potential as a long term role.

Wow, that guy is 33. He might be a little too good looking to be Ned Starck. I think he looks just like Beric Dondarrion in this pic though. Perfect for it. Ned has to be a somber, horse-face. That guy is lively and handsome looking, with a wider face.

Tahmoh Penikett = Beric Dondarrion

Don't know if anyones mentioned her but she seems perfect to me.

Julie Benz who plays Rita (Dexters girlfriend) in Dexter. Sweet and lovely when she wants to be, but hard as nails when it's called for. Looks the part too I think. Blonde hair which would suit her Tully lineage.

An actor who i feel is perfect for Ned is Damian Lewis. He's worked with HBO before in Band Of Brothers and his role in that was similiar to Ned. Obviously he's still involved with Life but i just cannot shake him as an ideal pick to play the Stark patriach.

No, he's Edmure for me - he's already got the hair.

I mentioned this in posting for the casting of the Lannisters, but I'll put it here too. Connie Neilsen (Lucilla in Gladiator) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001567/ could be a good choice for Catelyn. I mentioned in the other post that she might make a good Cersei Lannister, but if she looks better as a brunette, she could definitely pull Catelyn off.

This is always who I pictured a Catelyn, hands down in my book. I think she could play the part very well.

Dina Meyer

She's 40 and hot so would fit I think.

I think I'll make this my last reply, at least in the Starks thread. But here is a pretty obscure guy that I think could play Ned, Benjen, or somebody in house Stark, although I'm not sure he'd have the ruggedness that the directors are going for. I'd like to see him on the show someplace though.

This is one of the few videos I found of him. He played Nathan West in Space Above and Beyond, back in the 90s, seemed to trail off after they cancelled that show. This is the trailer for the never filmed season 2.

Liam Neeson as Ned!
...
I know, he's one hell of a big actor, probably amazingly pricey, but I can't stop seing him as Ned. He has such a fitting voice, stern and comforting.
Not to mention that he's one hell of an actor.

He might be a bit to old though. Well, if not him then Sean Bean... With black hair.

I could almost see Michelle Ryan as Lyanna... but even there she's pushing it. In my mind, Lyanna looks like a 16 year old version of Michelle Ryan or Evangeline Lilly or Liv Tyler (a feistier tomboy version of Arwen, basically). I'm unaware of any younger actresses that fit that bill. Maybe that chick from Twilight Kristen Stewart... she's pretty enough but seems to come with some baggage, and having Bella in Westeros would create unwanted assumptions about Lyanna's story arc, which can and should stand on it's own merits. Pre-Twilight, she'd have been a great choice... now I'd say stay far far away.

The 56 year old Liam Neeson could play Rickard--you could bribe him with a nifty stone likeness :) (this might be a small enough role that he could sneak it in with his other commitments (Neeson as Abe in an Abraham Lincoln biography--sweet!))
