Iciclefires
Wow, my favorite books ever. I've read Lord of the Rings, The Inheritance Cycle, and been a fan of those, but after reading the first book Game of Thrones, I can't believe Martin thought of this, or anybody really. The ending was amazing with Dany, couldn't believe it, and so excited when it comes to that part in the series.Love the show, and I thank you Martin for giving me a fantasy world to dream of. Marie Elise
Also just finished, and on to Clash of Kings, which is equally engrossing! I'm joining the camp of those who are less entranced by the Daenerys story. I don't know if that IS a camp, but if it is... i's mine. Her chapters in GoT were interesting, but I was always ready to get back to the action. I am, unfortunately, too slow witted to figure out how to use spoiler tags, so I'll stop here - but there is more I want to say!

Yup, it's a camp with a decently-sized membership. I can see some of their complaints, but for the most part, I personally still enjoy her plot thread. For spoiler tags, just use this format:
Spoilery info goes here.
Which comes out as: Spoilery info goes here.

I often just listen to the last five minutes of the audiobook and it always gets me choked up when I hear it. I don't know what it is about it, I just love the whole image I get in my head of that final scene.

I thought that Danny's story is quite well told. Even if it is a little worn...
LeBæuf
Finished Game of Thrones today, started Clash of Kings. A very good read. I've only read a little of the fantasy-genre before, like Terry Goodking's Discworld novels and the Sword of Truth-series, and Tolkens Lords of the rings. brocklaser
Finished this book a couple of weeks ago and wow! I loved it. I am already a third of the way through the second book.I don't mind the Daenerys storyline so far. But that may be because I like Dragons! Centurius
I've got mixed views on the Dany chapters (though I'm only around 400 pages in so haven't seen the conclusion).I hate coming to them in the book, as they distract from the main story, nothing more frustrating than a chapter ending on a cliff-hanger and then having to switch immediately to a side plot.On the other hand the Dany story is good in its own right.I think when I re-read this book I'll skip all the Dany chapters and read them separately at the end, unless of course it all ties in too much later in the book? From what I've read so far, you can enjoy either story without the other.
M'lady Cynthia Rayder
I am finished GoT! I loved it... Some of you metion about the Dany chapters or part in the story, being a bit irrelevant to the main story, I think not! I think the Dany stories are setting up the plot, I believe GoT is just the beginning of a very long story! I feel it is important to read the books as if each book is a chapter in a very large book... I am going to pick up Clash of Kings today, I am so excited!!! Harmony
This book was long so there’s really no good way to summarize it, but it was full of epic awesomeness!!!!! My only complaint was that there were so many characters that it was hard to keep them all straight at times, with the families and rivalries and thrones and… I have read 3/4 of book 2 and still a little confuse, now I want to remerber all of them knowing that they might become much more important in the next book. But, although that was challenging, it wasn’t hard to follow the book overall even with my modest english. They is everything I love politics, romance, battles, magic...I wanted to re read it before starting the next book but I could not. I will sure do it when I will be done with the serie in 2052 (god those are long books)I am a big fan of tyrion and dany. I really love Dany and drogo. but I saw the 2 first episodes before reading the book so my judgement was not impartial after seeing drogo on the show. but still love her story, she is at the begining of a great strory/life. Tyrion is just great, smart, funny.##############SPOILER################ (sorry dont know how to do the magic button)Who paid yoren? I tought he might actually be tyrion but really not sureWho is jon? I really think Ned isnt his father, I am a R+L team
Bowl o' Brown
Who paid yoren? I tought he might actually be tyrion but really not sureYoren is a black brother of the Night Watch tasked to get new recruits from King's Landing. He was asked to attend Eddard's "confession", and take him back to the Wall as per the "arrangement". Of course things didn't quite work out that way. Luckily the Starks have been long time supporters of the Night Watch, so when he spotted Arya he intervened before she revealed herself to the Lannisters. He took it upon himself to escort her back to Winterfell safely, he wasn't paid to do so.

I think the switch to Essos is refreshing. You just know something fantastic is brewing. Its like when I was a kid, and I would by a tape/CD for the singles released on the radio...I would want to listen to those songs first, but after listening to the whole album, you realize the quality of the unrealeased songs, which can be just as good, if not better than the songs that led you to buy the album in the first place.I would love to get a map of Westeros, to be made all vintage looking and frayed. would be an awesome decorative/conversation piece. Lady Godiva
Yes I finished GOT and now a few chapters into Kings and LOVE it.I feel so bad for Arya at times, but she is strong. Why do readers feel bad for Sansa? I kinda feel like she is at fault for many things.
