THE OFFICIAL SANDOR CLEGANE APPRECIATION THREAD

Expressing himself with his body through his sword I believe you mean? Or have you been reading too much fanfic? :P

Exposure to Sandor symptons: cold sweats, rapidly beating heart, heightened awareness, sudden desire to swoon... care to add any more? ;)

Well, um with a sword and his hands and um... let's move on, shall we?

The desire to swoon, and... other things.

Sandor Sisterhood 4 life! Love you too, FG!

I'm to lazy to do quote-stuff for all your posts, but a Sandor POV? I can't decide if I'd want it or not. I think it would be really hard to read, tbh. I imagine his internal dialogue to be absolutely tortured, based on the external stuff we get between him & Sansa AND him & Arya (almost moreso there, IMO). If you've read ADWD, I'm talking hard like Reek hard. If you've not read ADWD, I don't think that will spoil anything for you.

Also, Sandor's been super-close to the power structure for a while now, being Joffrey's personal guard. He would definitely have some insights into stuff (a la LF's betrayal of Ned, which is totally gonna come out), that would be interesting. But I don't know if I'd want to sacrifice his mystique for that.

I'll tell you what I wouldn't mind. Seeing Sandor from some other POV's, such as Jaime and/or Brienne (Dream Team. I wants it.)

LOL yeah I miss out on a lot our convos because I'm to lazy to quote-stuff, too. ;)

That is really why I want a Sandor pov because of his tortured soul. I remember reading Jane Eyre and wishing like mad that Mr. Rochester had a pov. I don't know, the bad boy with a heart does it for me, but in Sandor's case I believe it'd be great literature, probably some of GRRM's best work. Just think of all the insight Sandor could provide, not only at the Red Keep but during his childhood with Gregor. I really want to know if he actually killed their little sister or not. And yes I have read ADWDs. Reek's chapters were some of the BEST in the book. Really brought me into that half of the story, George at his absolute creepy best. ;) Great psychology, if I do say so myself. Ok enough before I get banned. ;)

Oh and the Dream Team will happen. I will REVOLT if it doesn't.

Also I love reading about him through Sansa too, because she reacts to him the way most of us would. At least I would.

This is ultimate proof that in every each and one of us there is a hidden princess dreaming of a tall, gallant knight on a white horse. Euh... wait, wrong knight: tall, yes, but rather harsh and threatening, in fact; and the horse should be black and mean :).

This is probably the only reason I'd like a Sandor POV, to know how Joff came to kill Ned Stark, if LF has something to do with this...

I can only admit my old dreams of being a princess on this forum. Oh and definitely, wrong knight: I like my tall, dark and scarred. Having him a little rough around the edges doesn't hurt, either. The horse must be a demon with hooves, too. There: that's the knight I walked with once upon a dream. ;)

Brashcandy, if you ever put out fan fiction, I want to read it. You have such a way with words!

Much thanks Starbird :) And your writng is nothing to sneeze at either. I just spent so long replying to you on the other San/San thread!

We'll have to share then :).

(As a side note, I always dreamt I was the knight, or at least I was the one saving him and not the other way round. And Sandor definitively needs someone to save him :).)

Sandor Sisterhood 4 life!!!!

Quote-thingy, I can haz it.

Agreed. Reek chapters are DEFINITELY best in the book. I am not a crier, not at ALL, and I cried. I think GRRM could do similarly incredible work w/Sandor's back story. However, as other people have said (multi-quote, how do you work?), I think the view of him through Sansa and others is very powerful for what isn't said.

Because I am an obsessive loser (also a teacher w/summers off) when I did my latest re-read, I dog-eared (lol) any page where the Hound and/or Sandor's name was mentioned. Direct convo w/him, mentioned in passing, comparisons to other characters, anything. Do you know how frakking much that man is mentioned? A LOT. I mean, we know that Sansa thinks about him often, but I was pretty surprised to see all the other mentions. If I get motivated I may count my tags in one book and just see how many, but it's a lot. Everyone, and I mean everyone, thinks about the Hound. TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if he was, like, Azor Ahai or something :totally joking: He's kind of a big deal :smoking:

Also,

This is probably the only reason I'd like a Sandor POV, to know how Joff came to kill Ned Stark, if LF has something to do with this...

I'm 100% convinced that LF, troll extraordinaire, was behind Joff's decision to go with beheading, instead of the Wall. 100%. This will come out, and I feel like Sandor's the only one left to bring it up. Although, Sandor won't come out of that smelling like roses, as he killed some of the Stark people, IIRC.

I was so horrified I couldn't cry while reading Reek's chapters. But I do have a new-found, burning hatred for a certain character now...

OMG I did the same thing! Every Sansa chapter and Arya chapter featuring the Hound is dog-eared in my books! We are definitely not losers! Obsessive, maybe, but this is a great place to show it! I'm so glad I found this forum and you guys. You all rock, especially you 3LittleBirds!

This thread was getting rather low on the front page, so BUMP!

Have some beautifully done videos to gawk at, m'dears. All feature scenes from the show, so if you haven't seen it, and don't want to be "spoiled", sorry! (If you've read aGoT, you already know what's gonna happen!)

SanSan-centric: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftrJcXdXMUc&feature=related (love the music in this)

More Sansa-centric (still has lots of Hound!):

(LOVE the music in this as well)

GoT general video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9uxQZFCEtM (Johnny Cash w/GoT? It's genius, trust me!)

AMAZING vid from ep. 9 of GoT (warning: brings the sad) :

(seriously beautiful)

EDIT:Don't know how I forgot this one! Every single interaction between Sansa and the Hound in S1 of the show :) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-SIa9YHQ8g&feature=related

In the mood for funny?

Have 10 minutes of Tyrion slapping Joff, while the Hound stands and watches:

Or, well, this you just have to see, I think. If you only watch one of these, make it this one :) :

Do any of you have a favorite fan vid? These are my go-tos, when I need a quick fix :)

I really hope they step up the hounds role in season 2 of the show cus i would hate for some of those great Sansa and Sandor moments to be cut out. One of the things that pissed me off was that they cut out Sandor telling Sansa about his scars, that whole scene powerful cus it evoked so many different emotions from the reader all at once. Then we get ripped of by Littlefinger telling Sansa in the show.

Count me in on the Sandor Sisterhood! I have very page of every book marked where ever he is mentioned lmao. I feel a certain way whenever I see the words 'the Hound' or 'Sandor Clegane' to the point where I thought I had some kind of word fetish lmfao.

Yay that makes three of us then! :D Anyone else?

I think I read somewhere that the Hound will be assigned to escort Sansa to JOffrey and other places instead of the other KG like in the books so that leaves a lot of room for their relationship to flourish.

On a side note, I'm glad they decided to make Sansa older in the show because it just feels slightly more appropriate that way lol

On rereading the series, this amazed me. First time round I was only just telling the difference between him and Gregor, second time round? He's one of the best-developed side-characters in the story. Brienne's entire storyline in AFfC is about him! The Hound is coming back, or Sandor at least ;)

Oh Sandor coming back huge believe that the hound may be dead but Sandor gonna do big things. I think he's gonna come and have something big to do what that prophecy of a giant attacking or destroying Winterfell. alot of people think the giant is undead super brother now I think he's gonna save Sansa at Winterfell from Undead Gregor.

On the first point, I don't know if I've read it anywhere, but I wouldn't be surprised. That'd be a way for them to develop the relationship. In fact, I wondered if maybe they'll have him try to tell her his story (Gregor and the burns), and she gives it away that she knows, or something. I just don't think they'll leave that the way it is, because he has to know that she knows. You know?

Also, I'm glad they made Sansa older as well. But, IMO, they sort of ruined it by making him so much freaking older. I mean, I guess they made everyone in the entire story older...they just moved the action 4 or 5 years down the road, so they're all older. But if they had aged Sansa up to say, 15 or 16, and kept Sandor at approx. 27? Well, that's a bit of a different story, methinks ;) In the long run though, it's all to the good that Sansa is older, I agree!
