Tywin style: kill them all and send a new Lord to the Iron Island, forbide them to build ships and send a occupation army to controll them

good luck sending an army to control the iron born...or commanding them not to build ships...thats like telling a whore not to fuck

Of course the Greyjoys will act up again as soon as they see the opportunity. He should have executed Balon and Victarion, who were the leading figures in the rebellion, and then installed Harlaw as regent for Theon. Make Aeron take the black, and marry Asha to some southern lord. Along with Asha, take some of Harlaw's kids as hostages. Euron can be dealt with if he ever shows up again.

execute balon, install victarion as lord protector, theon+ aeron go to ned asha and euron go to casterly rock.

Regular VISITS there

Wouldnt Victarian continue to try and go back to the "old way" that was what his brother fought for, why would he give up or be any different?

Seriously I would have killed Balon since he's guilty of rebellion (and Euron mayhaps since he's EVIL). Someone has to pay for it. I would have installed Victarion as Lord Protector and married Asha to Tyrion or Renly and Theon held hostage (could be squire to king Bob or to Ned) and married to a girl who would be loyal to the Iron Throne but not from the Iron Islands. The other Lords would pay fine and some would give hostages. And no ship-building

You may as well kill them all, if you don't let them sail.

Why so much popularity for making Victarion regent/protector? He commanded Balon's fleet during the war and is a Balon loyalist. He and Aeron are problems who need to be dealt with, and not by putting them in power.

If you justify killing Euron because he's a horrible person you might as well start purging loyalists to the Iron Throne who are equally horrible, starting with Gregor Clegane, where common knowledge has it he smashed baby Aegon's head against a wall. Robert probably had no idea what Euron's true nature was, and he wasn't around at that time.

Probably should have just forced Balon, Victarion, and Aeron to take the Black if you don't want to inspire more rebellion by executing them. Executing a ruling family because they tried to give the people independence is the surest way to make those same people sit, ferment, and try again later.

Or you get another rebellion on your hands and/or create ALOT of resentment among the population.

They have no ships, no weapons, against an ocupation army on small island you can good overlook, they domed if you don't care about human rights or mercy

We are very look then that you are not the king then, because kings who don't care for such things often comes to a bad end. Also the Sons of the Harpy seems to have done pretty well with limited resources.

Just like Cesare Borgia lol. But for the Iron Islands, I think eradicating the Old way will be very difficult since it's one of the distinctive traits of their culture. You could always raise a wise lord like The Reader as Warden but will he be respected by the people?

Scour them from Westeros. In addition to Pyke's extremely sketchy and untrustworthy lords, their culture itself is the problem: they live to reave, wage war, and generally cause havoc for those unfortunate enough to live in their vicinity. That can't be helped or curbed, as Balon the Twice-Crowned and his all-too-eager-to-follow lackeys proved.

Are you saying leave them uninhabited or just remove the current people and bring in people from the mainland as new tenants?

Execute Balon, exile the rest of the Greyjoys and take away the Isles' self governance. Give the western islands (Pyke, Old Wyck, Great Wyck, etc) to the Lannisters, and the eastern islands (Orkmont, Harlaw) to the Tullys. Wipe out the worship of the Drowned God and replace it with the Seven/Old Gods.

Well, there's the quandary. Is the Ironborn's penchant for causing chaos due to their belligerent and rebellion-hungry lords, or is their brutal/warlike culture itself to blame?

Because one of them can be fixed with a little political playing. The other one... not so much.
