Why attack Myrcella?

The straightforward reason is that it was an alternative way of starting the Lannister - Dorne war he had signed up with Arianne to achieve. Killing Myrcella is at least as effective as crowning her, especially as Doran can't undo it as he might have been able to undo the crowning.

P.S. This thread really belongs in "General (ASoIaF)", not in "Re-read Project".
