Kingsguards during Dance

So now we know the breakdown. 5 for Green, and 2 - the ones posted at Dragonstone with Princess thereof - for Black.

We know by name 3 of the 7 who specifically died in the Dance. Lord Criston and the Cargyll twins.

During the two years of Dance. Did either the King or Queen refill the spots of the members who fell on their own side?

Did they refill "vacancies" created by the guards fallen on the other side?

And did either of them treat the Kingsguard alive and fighting on the other side as vacancies to refill?

Someone mentioned that Loren(t?) Marbrand was killed in riot and so that should also be mentioned. To be honest I don't think that many of the original Kingsguard survived the war.

In regards to vaciencies both of them would form their own Kingsguard and so filled up the empty slots left by the "traitors" (depending on you view of the subject) with new knights.

Actually I think the split was four to three,

one of them (

Darklyn?) went over to Rhaenyra.

I doubt Rhaenyra would create her own Kingsguard, as she was trying to win the throne and all that came with it, including the Kingsguard. She may have promised spots to people, maybe even planned to execute those Kingsguard who were loyal to Aegon.

In which case Aegon III was likely to wind up with 14 Kingsguard and 2 Lords Commander.

In the War of Five Kings, Renly tread on laws and founded his own Rainbow Guard. Whereas Stannis...

Note that Stannis was not bound by Joffrey´s dismissal of Barristan. Renly held a spot for Barristan. Stannis might have done the same.

The first of Robert´s Kingsguard to vacate his spot unambiguously was ser Preston, and then Joffrey waited with refilling the spot until after Blackwater. If Stannis recognized Robert´s Kingsguard, then he would have had excellent reason to not create any until he had removed Joffrey´s Kingsguard and their heads. But did Aegon and Rhaenyra set the precedent of respecting the Kingsguard spots of traitors? If they set the precedent, it would have given guidance for Stannis.

What? Preston Greenfield was slain during the riot, having been pulled off his horse when he tried to aid the Fat Septon. Not long after, Boros Blount was dismissed for giving up Tommen to Jacelyn Bywater's ambush. Before the Blackwater, those two vacant spots were filled by Balon Swann and Osmund Kettleblack. During the battle, Mandon Moore was slain and Sandor Clegane abandoned his post. After the battle, Tywin filled these vacancies by swearing in Loras Tyrell and giving Boros his cloak back.

Sorry, you were right.

So, as far as Stannis was concerned, the dismissals of Barristan and Boros were both invalid.

That leaves just Preston. There is no mention of Stannis appointing Kingsguard, even after Preston died (and then Mandon).
