David O'Hara as Randyll Tarly?

Though with how things go with TV shows I doubt we see him soon. But I'm really pulling for David O'Hara to play Samwell's father. David O'Hara is known for being The Tudors, Braveheart, Harry Potter and more. I think he would do great as the stern battle commander... anyone elses thoughts? His imdb = http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0641244/

He wouldn't be a bad choice, but I'd rather he play one of the Ironborn (Euron, if I had to choose).

O'Hara's Braveheart castmate Brendan Gleeson is my choice to play Randyll. He has a similar facial resemblance to John Bradley, and I can totally buy him as a hard-ass battle commander.

Gleeson has been mentioned on another thread as a great potential Wyman Manderly. I think that would fit him better. Don't think resemblance to Sam is an issue given that Sam in no way typifies what Randyll wants in a son (probably takes after the Florents in looks). I'd say one subconscious reason (we know the conscious reasons) why Randyll prefers Dickon is that Dickon looks like mini-Randyll.

Slim chance we'll ever see Randyll in the show but David O'Hara would make a damn good Jon Connington.

It depends on what his role in TWOW is, he is a part of the new small Council after Cersei's cronies lose their positions and he may be more important in KL in the upcoming seasons. The fact he is Sam's dad and has already been talked about twice would help the audience remember him and helps the chances of him being included.

Sure, but as long as he does a fake accent to try and correspond at least a bit with Sam's and doesn't just stroll in with a Scottish one. The accents on the show are terrible, there's little continuity among the areas, e.g. Samwell inexplicably has a Mancunian accent despite being from the Reach.

The Southern houses of Lannister [aside from Dinklage, he's great but I don't know what his accent is meant to be], Tully and Tyrell are good. Baratheon and the Northmen not so much.

Robert was in tune with Ned, this makes sense, they were raised together at the Eyrie...

But Yohn Royce speaks with an RP accent, just like we saw with the Knights of the Vale back in Season one, - O.o

Stannis fits in well with Robert and Ned, so perhaps the Stormlands have a similar accent... but Renly also randomly speaks in RP.

Meanwhile, up North, we have Eddard Stark and Great Jon Umber [Mantle nailed it] who actually sound like Northerners, next to Jorah and the Boltons who sound RP.

Don't get me started on the Stark children, only Robb actually sounds similar to Eddard [And Theon sounds right too, not a Stark, but it makes sense he would sound like them], Rodrik, Karstark etc.

Oh and then there's Davos... Anyway, I digress, what was the thread about again?

Good pick, I liked him as Menalaus too, he's a great actor.
