<SPOILERS>

This entire thread will be populated with information from the books A Feast for Crows, and a Dance with Dragons, and leaked info for GoT season 5.

DO NOT READ THIS THREAD IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING!!

</SPOILERS>

Much of the books contents will not be directly translated to the TV show, for sure, but what will and won't make it is an interesting discussion.

WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW:

From season 4 we have seen

Brienne 's story arc has changed dramatically.

Bran's story arc is complete for now.

Sansa has passed all content from the books

The TV show

Favours using existing characters to stand in for new characters introduced in the books, we have seen this many times already.

Will feature sex and nudity if it can.

Combines events depicted from multiple POV's into one large event

Will restore the timeline approach to the 4th and 5th novels, instead of splitting based on POV (Thank God)

Will most likely feature new content that is either entirely made up, or from the next (unpublished) novel

From casting

We know that Dorne will play a large role in the new season, with Doran and Tristane Martell, a new Myrcella, all three sand snakes, and Areo.

Daario is a major role

Missandei is a major role

No Lady Stoneheart

There will be a flashback scene feature young Cersei and Maggy the Frog

No leaks regarding Greyjoy's casting have emerged.

No Quentyn

From leaked images we know:

Jamie goes to Dorne

Tyrion not only meets Dany, but is promoted to a position of honour, standing with her in the fighting pits next to .

Ser Jorah fights in the pits

Arya meets Ser Meryn in Braavos

Tycho Nestoris greets Mace Tyrell in Braavos

In fact Tyrion, Arya, and Ser Jorah are all in the same location shoot with Tycho and Ser Meryn

Cersie does her nude walk

Drogon flambes some unsullied

Jon Snow will feature in season 7, so I guess he lives!

Putting it all together!

The rest of this thread moves from facts to conjecture.

Try and base your theories on evidence to hand, and common sense.

Don't paste "I wish" or "You know what I wanna see" comments here, this thread is about discussing what is likely to happen in season 5, based on what we have seen before, what the producers are known to do, and the facts listed above.

THE FOLLOWING INCLUDES TOTAL SUPPOSITION. I SWITCH BETWEEN "MAY HAPPEN" AND "WILL HAPPEN" FREELY, BUT THIS MEANS NOTHING OTHER THAN MY INABILITY TO STICK TO A STYLE

Dany

Seems that Dany marries Hizdahr, reopens the fighting pits, and Drogon shows up, that much is clear.

I doubt we'll have the poisoning subplot.

Daario will be present more not relegated to off-screen mentions.

No Quentyn, so either someone else releases the dragons, or they escape themselves, when they hear Drogon.

My big guess, Dany won't spend a chapter walking around in the grass, but will return for the battle or Mereen as the ep9 major event.

Arya

Apart from different encounters (tyrion, Ser Jorah, Ser Meryn) I don't see that Arya's story will change much.

I guess she kills Meryn Trant in revenge for him killing Syrio, instead of Daeron, becuase...ummm...reasons (Viewers are more likely to believe Arya's motives to kill Ser Meryn rather than some stranger who simply deserted the Night's Watch)

Tyrion

Umm, really, I have no idea, but whatever happens, it will be a big change from the books.

No long, slow river boat journey.

Tyrion will land in Braavos, and be captured by Ser Jorah.

They then board a ship, it gets captured, and they end up in Mereen, how Tyrion ends up with Dany, and Ser jorah in the pits I have no idea

Oh, there will be NO Penny, NO jousting on pigs (We know this already as in season three the dwarves at Joffrey's wedding simply wore costumes to represent the animals).

I also strongly disagreed that Tyrion would willingly belittle himself like that, simply to entertain some bored seamen!

Brienne

Another one about who I cannot even guess.

Jamie

I think he replaces Ser Balon Swann's stroy, in order to give him something more meaningful to do.

I'm pretty sure he will be front and centre for events in Dorne.

Cersei

Another character who will surely follow the books fairly closely.

Stannis

Given my presumption that the Battle of Mereen will be the big ep9 event, the show will end with Jon Snow's stabbing, and the army camped in the snow outside Winterfell for a season 6 event.

Ramsay Snow/Bolton

Entirely unsure about the fake Arya marriage, as TV Ramsay already has a girlfriend; Myranda, who is portrayed as being a willing participant in his evil acts, and who likes nothing like Arya.

Aegon Targaryen

This pointless and rather annoying subplot will be entirely omitted..we don't need yet another pretender to the throne introduced so late in the show...

Jon Snow

I think the most likely events to carry over the TV show are interactions with the Queen Selyse and Shireen, His treaty with Tormund Giantsbane, and the migration of 1,000's of Wildlings through the tunnel.

..and his stabbing, of course, most likely contender for season finale.

There's more I'm sure, and a lot you will violently disagree with.

Please reply with YOUR thoughts.

(You may disagree with other posts, but this is a thread of theories based on what little we know already, so there is little to be gained by replying with a "YOU'RE WRONG!" comment, unless it is clearly contradicted by the evidence already available.)

Ok. I don't think Tyrion is going to meet Dany at all.

We see that he sits next to Hizdahr, so it could be that he was just hanging out there since they had bottles in there. First, it could be that Hizdahr buys him, but why Yezzan has been cast. Why include him if there's no Tyrion as a slave?

Your Battle of Meereen as episode 9 I disagree with. Daznak's Pit will be in episode 9, tho it will have some other stuff, including Porne, I mean Dorne. And I doubt this season will have any kind of battle, since it has been like this:

SEASON 1: No battle - Ned's beheading

SEASON 2: Battle of Blackwater

SEASON 3: No battle - Red Wedding

SEASON 4: Battle of Castle Black

SEASON 5: No battle - Daznak's Pit

SEASON 6; Battle of Ice, Siege of Meereen, the possible White Walker invasion

@Roose is Azor Ahai,

Tyrion will absolutely meet Dany. Keep in mind that WotW did post another article at one point showing the actor's doubles all sitting in the same seats. That leads me to believe it's a legitimate scene otherwise why get the actor's doubles of all people to sit there on a different day? Other sources say the Daznak's Pit shoot took like 2 whole weeks which is unusual for a single scene on the show. It's a big moment for episode 9 and Tyrion will be seated relatively close to Dany. He may not interact with her but he will 'meet' her.

Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) and Sophie Turner (Sansa) have reportedly done filming in Northern Ireland, which is being used for the Vale. Given how close Brienne was at the end of Season 4, it seems probable that those two will interact this season.

There's a significant battle that is being filmed in winter conditions (originally meant for Iceland, but had to be moved). Obviously that means the North/Wall, but as to which battle that is, who knows. They'll probably want to give Stannis something to do.

Hardhorne, most likely. Episode 8.

(You may disagree with other posts, but this is a thread of theories based on what little we know already, so there is little to be gained by replying with a "YOU'RE WRONG!" comment, unless it is clearly contradicted by the evidence already available.)

Dany

Will marry Hizdahr Zo Loraq and will defiantly have an affair with Daario. Daario will do more on screen than in the books and Missandei will more of a friend to Dany in the show and give her someone to confide in. Won't directly meet Tyrion. I think he will be Hizdahr's slave but they won't communicate. Don't think she will be poisoned but will leave the pit with Drogon in episode 9 and meet up with the Dothraki in episode 10.

Arya

Mostly the same storyline but with different characters and Tom Wlaschiha (Ja'Qen) will be the Faceless Man and Syrio could possibly reappear to give the audience familiar faces though not after she has killed Meryn Trant. Obviously her storyline will be massively streamlined - not all the hanging about the canals but could see her meeting up with Sam if he actually leaves the Wall and goes to Oldtown which I struggle to see happening (too many plotlines)

Jon

Mostly the same but there will be character omissions such as Alys Karstack. Surely he will have to do some warg-ing as he hasn't done any yet!

Tyrion

This is where I feel the show is gonna run into problems. Yes Tyrion is one of the main characters but in AFFC/ADWD I would say the 3 most central storylines are Dany/Jon/Cersei but Tyrion is touted as star of the show so will get the most screentime. Anyway I think he will meet up with Jorah much earlier than in the books as there will be no Griffs. They will both be down on their luck and a bit mopey but will end up having a wee bromance. He will be sold to Hizdahr Zo Loraq and be his slave or possibly his advisor but not actually speak to Dany. He and Jorah (and Daario/Grey Worm) will be gearing up for the Second Siege of Meereen in the finale.

Cersei

I think the show is gonna focus on the Cersei vs the Tyrells/High Sparrow angle rather than the Stokeworths/Taena stuff. I am sure I read that Lollys Stokeworth has been cast which would be surprising as I assumed Bronn would be going to Dorne with Jaime because of the apparent tension between Lena Headey and Jerome Flynn  I also think Littlefinger when in King's Landing will in some way screw Cersei over without her knowing about it.

Margaery/Loras

I think they will be more active players in their storylines. Loras will be captured by the High Sparrow when he is enforcing pious laws etc but will get released soon after. Marg will still be framed but I imagine it will be left to the viewers to see whether she is actually innocent or not.

Jaime

Will have the role of the Kingsguard who is sent to get Myrcella back in Dorne to ease viewers into all the new people. Probably will be with Bronn. Will break up with Cersei before he goes.

Brienne

I don't think she will feature very much this season. A trip to the Eyrie is likely while Petyr is in KL. LS won't be in the show but Brienne could be captured by the Brotherhood without Banners anyway.

Theon

I think his storyline will be drastically cut though he will rescue a random girl instead of fArya from Ramsey (it will be his show bride) and will still communicate with Bran in the tree.

Other minor characters: Sam will stay at the Wall, Lancel won't go off to get married but will still become pious and confess sleeping with Cersei which is why she will have to do the Walk, Varys will initially be with Tyrion but will soon leave not to be seen again til the finale, Balon will have the role of Euron in the show but barely feature

^Eugene Simon returning isn't a rumour. It's not been officially confirmed but it's VERY likely.

As I remember we have a tweet from Simon that he was indeed on set in Croatia and I even remember a report that someone saw him there.

^Aidan Gillen shot KL scenes in Dubrovnik. Presumably he goes to Tommen's wedding or something. He'll probably trick Cersei into making some sortof stupid investment and then return to the Vale and give the same report to Sansa he told in AFFC about Cersei's rule disintegrating faster than he'd thought.

And to the OP how is Jamie restoring peace in the riverlands an unimportant story?

Because nothing that happens in that subplot is particularly important? If the issue comes up at all, it can be taken care of offscreen with a couple throwaway lines. The most important part of those stories is Jaime's personal growth, which can happen anywhere that isn't KL.

I am anticipating most of the core cast plot lines to be the same but streamlined (not a bad thing in my eyes). I am anticipating Daznaks pit to be episode 9 and Jon's stabbing to be episode 10, not sure whether we will get the battle of ice (I hope so) but confident we won't see battle of Meereen. I am also expecting some material from early winds of winter and probably a death (or two) which hasn't yet been published by GRRM has written in his early WOW work - Barristan/Theon/Littlefinger perhaps?

I also sort of anticipate both Euron and Aegon to be pushed back to season six with some verbal mentions towards the end of this season.
