Arthur has Dawn and Aegon, Blackfyre. They are in an open field and alone. Both are wearing armor and both are in the primes of their life. I can't decide who I think would come out on top. Arthur for me Yeah I'm kind of leaning towards Arthur but you have to be some kind of badass to control Balerion the Black Dread and fight from his back. I believe Aegon's willpower would be a strength for him. But then again there's a reason they give Dawn to the most badass Dayne at the time and not the heir apparent. Especially a monarch who also needs to maintain decent dragon riding skills, another time sink. Where the hell would he find the time to also be a sword fighter on the level of Arthur Dayne? There are only 24h in a day and 7 days in a week, you know... I'm sure Aegon was a decent fighter and that references to his prowesses are not 100% based on ass licking toadies saying what's expected of them, but the notion that Aegon could defeat someone like Arthur is rather ludicrous to me. It's like saying that a Fortune 500 CEO who is fit and trains as a MMA fighter in his spare time could take on the UFC champion in his weight division. Yeah... That's not happening. Against a monarch spending most of his time ruling, dragon-taming and sister-fucking, while not being noted for his talent. Or any accomplishments in personal combat. Aegon is stronger while Arthur is more of a proffesional swordsman. Extra strenght is an advantage, Aegon would have been a great swordsmen wielding a great sword with loads of power behind it, sure Arthurs move's would be a bit better, but he would have to handle heavier blows than he would be used to or be able to deliver himself. We don't know much about Aegon when it comes to personal combat, but don't be fooled by that. You don't conquer a kingdom being an amateur at stuff like this. Aegon did not have the least bit of fear doing what he did, he would have faced those who challenged him i presume, it seems to me that he would have need to be rather confident in his skills. Good points but in the prime of his life Aegon was a great warrior with a VS sword who rode the back of a massive dragon and kicked ass. I assume he went into battle with his men before resorting to the dragons at the Field of Fire.
