The show is called RWBY.

I ended up watching it recently, and enjoyed it. The fight scenes are great though

my favorite has to be the food fight in the cafeteria.

The Animations style is weird but I think its servicable.

Also nitpicking on this one. I don't think it is considered anime. It is in that style, but the show is a web series made in America.

The plot is somewhat weak, but the characters are fun, there's some good humour and the fight scenes are amazing (though the art style is sometimes a bit weird - I would have preferred proper cartoon to cell-shaded). It's something you watch for the spectacle really, rather than a deep narrative.

I was really saddened to hear of Monty Oum's death a few weeks back. I don't usually get too down about celebrity/internet personality deaths. But his really hit me hard for some reason. I'm glad they're continuing the show though, I don't think he would have wanted the show to be cancelled out of "respect." I think that would have been the exact opposite of respect. Still, he voiced one of the characters - Lie Ren. I wonder how they'll get around that? :(

I tried one episode when I saw it pop up Netflix. I couldn't handle the animation style. And I watch so little of any TV, much less anime/anime-inspired, that, when I do, I really need it to be firing on all cylinders for me.

I agree the animation kills it for me, but just give it at least a little over half an hour I bet you'll like the plot....well idk but I still think its worth a try

Fights and soundtrack are top-notch.

Humour's pretty good.

plot's okay, nothing extraordinary and the animation's solid with only a few hiccups.

All round a pretty good series, though I do real they need to kill some folk off.

The grimm never really feel like a threat to anyone.

Volume 2 spoilers ahead, if anyone's not seen it.

The Grimm we've met are not much of a threat because almost exclusively we've seen a coordinated attack by the group. However, if you recall the elephant-like Grimm seen outside the abandoned city in Volume 2, it's pretty evident that there are far more dangerous Grimm out there. And it's indicated in the concurrent conversation between Ruby and the Professor that some Grimm are actually intelligent, too.

I wouldn't count on any of the grimm actually being a threat for more than an episode. If they didn't think it would be good for the team to have a challenge to start with I don't see why they'd start now. Perhaps my biggest complain with the show.

Its a problem a lot of shows with the mindless monsters wandering about have. I mean in the Walking Dead the zombies have basically become a piece of the scenery that they shoot and stab until once a season or so they use some kind of super stealth zombie to kill off a character.

Attack on Titan is the only kind of one I can think of that handles it sort of well by having a whole pile of small characters and redshirts get killed off in almost every encounter to remind us that these things are a threat.

Volume 2 spoilers

I mean when the grimm are unleashed upon the city in the last episode do we even see anyone get hurt or killed. A couple robots get broken I think but that's it.

They didn't even need to show people getting mauled or anything just a sort of recap of the damage by the guys in charge to remind you that these things are dangerous to people who don't attend a child soldier school
